Note

Pre ran the m20e at BOC. Lovely, lovely forest! Thoroughly enjoyable, cruised around and made some disgustingly big mistakes but still managed to destroy Ewan, mission accomplished. Hot day out and even at 9am some water would of been nice...state of British Orienteering not offering water points, stupid and dangerous.

Sunday. New day, new opportunity. I was repping UBOC, renowned as Britain's most upcoming university orienteering club. I lined up alongside Kit Grierson - Law student legend and rival to Michael Adams for BOF's biggest dong, I really rated your lycra. Tom Dobra - Don of TrailO and arch nemesis to Matthew Leitch, TrailO's badboy.

Kit Had a stable race doing absolute jobs on first leg for the boys, coming home in respectable 13th place on first leg. Dobra did an equally as impressive run on 2nd, coming 17th on his leg managing the high pressure of real orienteering race compared to the calmness and patience of trailO. Then it was up to me....past his best and average ex-junior international, Will Rigg to deliver the goods for the boys and put UBOC into the history books.

Roared on by the jwoc party living legend Matt Elkington (at least i think it was, only had one contact lense in lol) I stormed out the start pen, i was a man on a mission. Death or Glory. number one spiked, number two spiked, number three spiked. Fucking right, i was spiking everything, the king has returned. UBOC will be made great again. I heaved my dad bod up these 10m mounds which felt to me like Nepalese mountains. I stomped through brashings like they were mere twigs. I did it for the boys. I was back. Didn't see a soul out there racing, it was just me vs the forest. I came out victorious. The sound of the finishing chute was deafening, i've never heard so many chants for UBOC in my life (lol jokes, the boys had gone to the trailO event, abso whoppers ) I collapsed to the ground with a heart rate higher than Ali Masson on a night out in Surrey with the home boys. Body aching, feet blistered, i didn't care, I AM BACK. 50 seconds off the notorious Willy G off 5 days of running... might as well put me in the WOC team, them 4th place WOC relays will be no more. Silverware guaranteed.

Massive thanks for UBOC for having me, it's only up for you boys, cheers for the journey.
