Orienteering 41:00 [3] 6.4 km (6:24 / km)

British Relay Champs - 2nd Leg

Set out in a great position after big J had a stormer. Approached this area with care after knowing how tricky it can be from previous trainings. Jack set me out just behind Nay nay and it was clear from early on, he was moving better than me! (Legs a bit shafted from yesterday to say the least!) However managed to end up getting ahead to 5 with some clean navigation through the the tricky stuff and catch site of Duncan to 6.

The two of them slowly then got away from 7 to 8, which then came my whopper of a mistake at 8. I Identified it as a pretty tricky leg so slowed right down and made sure I had a good entrance to it - contouring in off the crag in the reenterant. I arrive to find a crag with no control on it... fuckk i must be too high, so spent the next 4 mins or so checking every giant unmapped crag there was around there. Was loosing far too much time here so decided to just bail upwards, only to find the control on a much smaller crag to the ones I was checking!... don't like to blame the mapping here but it was dogey af how many unmapped crags there were.

Got going after that with a bit of a donkey miss on number 17 allowing Jegor to sneak ahead of me, he had a bit of a shorter gaffle and I was seriously bonking in the open after yesterdays big job so trundled in 10 seconds down on him in 4th position.

Crazy to find out I only lost one position after such a huge mistake, but teams were all over the place from the get go! Tim went on to do very solid job to come back in what we thought was 3rd position only to find out that NOC and FVO's SI's had not registered. Leaving us pretty baffled with retaining our BOC title. Not that same feeling you get when you win the Relay ourtight and a massive commiseration's to the other teams, especially shuoc who put three really solid runs together.

All I know is Tim Morgan and Will Rigg will win you Relay Championships.

British Long - 12th

Solid, bonky, fairly scrappy but pretty happy overall with this from the training i've been doing just to finish this epic! Getting pretty grim in the last loop and just didn't do enough to hold off the beast that is Marcus Pinker.

Big news to get promoted to the 2nd Relay team, comeback is on!
