Orienteering 1:20:00 [4] 12.1 km (6:37 / km) +555m 5:23 / km

80 minutes of running uphill in a marsh. Not as nice.

First time my lungs have actually felt good for most of a race. Proper grind of a race and not so clean. Made some pretty big time losses accumulating of 4 mins-ish at a quick look.... a lot around the control circle and was maybeeee half regretting running up the old man for some of the final climbs of the course. But in general happy how things went for this race physically. Great area.

Don't think I've ever felt as tired after a race as this one for some reason, the terrain well and truly bummed me. Had about 3 dinners tonight to make up for it.

Running 40:00 [2] 6.0 km (6:40 / km)

Note

Nice to finally begin to gain some competence in my physical shape and be able to breathe again. Dr Bonar's steroids working well.

Orienteering 38:32 [4] 5.37 km (7:10 / km) +137m 6:22 / km

Tarn Hows Middle

38 minutes of running through a marsh, nice. Made over a minute mistake - one miss and one shite direction down a slope. Properly face planted it head first into a marsh just before the last control. Came running into finish with Miss Evans pissing herself at my mud covered body/face.

Took inhaler before my start which seemed to loosen things off. Brought it with me incase It started getting worse. Unfortunately It fell out my pocket at control number 2 straight to a marsh (what a coincidence) so rather than contracting aids i left it there and kept going. Last 10 minutes lungs did get worse and they actually hurt at the end of the race. But positive because took them longer than normal to get worse.

Class run up the Old man with Dane. Chest tight after about 20 minutes took some of my 'reliever' inhaler which seemed to help a bit and then started to feel really good on the last climb. Think I'm just going to play puff the magic dragon all weekend.

Easy run with Katherine, 10/10 shit chat the entire way. Was looking far too big in my swix top. Should take about few days before i start noticing medication so hopefully will feel improvements soon, chest weasy still but easy pace was fine and legs felt good.

(rest day)

Feeling better.

So, saw the doctor today.

During each race of the JK and any prolonged high intensity in about the last week or two before maybe even a bit longer I've been beginning to notice that in each session I've become more and more tight chested and weasy and struggling to push on in the last stages of any races or trainings i have done and instead by body just tiring abnormally.

During the JK I really noticed it at the end of the middle race in the last 10 minutes or so, I literally just could not get shifting and was really short of breath. The jk long i lasted okay for about 30/40 minute or so before started getting worse. During the last loop I was struggling really bad and was begging to feel more and more short of breath and noticing myself tiring really quickly and just loosing concentration I made a mistake early on in the race which was just shear navigation error but towards the end i made two bad misses from just being so tired because I was out of breath and could not concentrate on the map.

So the doctor did a series of tests on me and the one that was noted most was when i exhale out hard i have a wease. I didn't actually realise I had a wease just standing around and only though it came upon doing hard training. So she said how this would have been limiting my breathing during races and high intensity stuff, no surprise there. So the strength of the steroid i have been using has been upped from 100 micrograms to 250 micrograms. If this doesn't improve i'm to come back and there are other possibilities such as tablets i can take if it is allergy related (Pollen as such).

To be honest I don't know why I haven't addressed the problem early from when I first noticed, I've had few problems in the past with my asthma and normally they go away so maybe I was just waiting a bit too long.

Hopefully things might be on the up...
