Orienteering (Scottish 6 day 1) 58:39 [3] 5.5 mi (10:40 / mi) +280m 9:12 / mi

Was having such a good race.. caught up alex McCann , was hitting all my controls perfect, took a good route choice that got me ahead of alex on the long leg then three controls later i realised i went around a little loop the wrong way 7-10-9-8-9-10 :( ah shit! then rushing back from 9 to 8 i messed up and got myself lost ! was having such a good race....at least can take positives out of it! was in 5 th place before the mistake reckon i was heading for about 3rd after having what felt like such a fast long leg even though i did go to the controls the wrong way round i hit them perfect! ended up 20th :( proabably would of been my best race if i didn't do this unseen thing !

Orienteering race (LAGGANLIA- Claasic) 52:05 [4] 5.2 mi (10:01 / mi) +250m 8:43 / mi

3rd quite an nice area, i checked my splits with most people aand seemed to have the fastest on most controls,I was hitting my controls well. mistake was at 6, don't why i came down so low and had to relocated after minutes of searching lost about 6 miutes on this.Callum white caught me on this mistake and he won eventually he knew the area as his house was only a few miles away!we both took differnt route choice from 7-8 i went over the open he went through the woods , both hit the control at the same time and then onwwards i was ahead of him though, after that caught up a lot of people oh and tim wo i got rid of earlier in the race caught up on these mistakes at 12 and 13 he came second...due to following people I think, I decided to beast the last 4 controls and got a gap of 2 minutes on them, then somehow missed the ride and lost 30 seconds to the finish :L 3rd out of 15 .... should of won really had the best performance out of most people.

Orienteering (LAGGANLIA- relay) 24:57 [3] 2.6 mi (9:36 / mi) +115m 8:26 / mi

knackered for this relay, but it was me jenny rickets and TONY the legend! only mistake was on 2 where it didn't seem to be in the right place otherwise a slow but reasonably clean race! Hector Haines was there to do a bit of pre WOC training and passed me onto the last two control which i just followed him into...he did class in some of the races at scottish! anyway we won the relay :D as someone in his team misspunched and so did sashas! all good banter!

Orienteering (LAGGANLIA- Anagach) 3:00:00 [3] 14.0 km (12:51 / km) +500m 10:55 / km

just training so don't know the splits. Did some visualisation courses in the morning followed by instructed your partner where to go on courses and map memory.
we then did a peg relay where the coaches were instructed to distract us all the way, as they did very well. all of us stupid people ran the opposite directions to number 1 and followed the good coaches to the wrong control...this then meant we had to run twice as hard to catch up to the leading pack I then eventually did and lead the pack all the way james distracted me alot in the green and i messed up one of the contols and some people in a differnt group got ahead then caught them up took the lead 10-11 across a huge marsh where i went the right way and aload of other people went 90 degrees long. if i wasn't stupid enough to follow the coaches to 1 i would of won by a mile but i didn't pretty funny race!

Orienteering (LAGGANLIA-1st day) 3:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (18:00 / km)

lots of bearing practise which really helped, did aloot of pacing aswell but i didn't like it (to much to be done while concentrating on other things during a race! a good day in a nice area:) also did a relay using teddy bears...dropping them at a control point then making another from your team pick it up and put it at the adjacent control !

Running race (Sports Day) 4:56 [5] 1.5 km (3:17 / km)

Sports day felt fresh and fit around the track had a fast time considering it was on grass plus that there is a slight hill on one of the bends, reckon i could of got 4 45 if it was track :) happy with performance came 1st

Running race (Sports Day) 1:01 [5] 0.4 km (2:32 / km)

400m .... WHAT A KNACKERING race , started off shit and let some crap people go in front of me , but barged my way through the pack into third ...Nat was ahead by about 2 seconds so decided i wasn't go to catch ...but cained andy on the straight and came 2nd out of 14.

Running (Sports Day) 1:00:00 [3]

Long jump - ? was just out of podium (4th) so didn't get my distance-out of 15
Triple Jump- 10.10m pretty decent only good enough to get me second out of about 15

Running (Sports Day) 13 [5] 0.1 km (2:10 / km)

100 m RELAY! 13.2 secondsKained it on the 1st leg and won my split i think! Team was doing class till 3rd leg when my mate slowed us down a bit ( as he had to fill in as out other team member was injured) ended up in 2nd place which wasn't too bad :) all wore headbands for the crack!

Cumbrian gallopen in wcoc area... huge fell ! made a few mistakes , overshot one control...20 second mistake and messed up another control by 1 minute by being about 10m away from it but not realising! about 3 minutes of mistakes all together, but had a really fast race and flew round happy with my fitness, thought it would be a bit shabby but obviously not....came 1st by 2 minutes. results on http://www.wcoc.co.uk/

Orienteering race (evening event) 38:15 [4] 6.2 km (6:10 / km) +160m 5:28 / km

Evening Event, open fell! really basic orienteering, started out pretty decent hit all controls perfect apart from one when I misread the scale and i was too high up! (1 minute mistake) then made another mistake 1k later, looked at the map and misread to boulders close to each other as a crag, saw my control but saw two boulders and dismissed it as my contols, when i stopped and realised it was mine i quickly ran back (1 minute of mistakes) ended up getting stich about another kilometre through it A REALLY BAD ONE AT THAT! had to stop for a breather and recover myself twice.-this really slowed my running down and i would been able to off two or three minutes, otherwise battled through it beat jack wright which im happy with. only got beaten by carl (M18) chris(M21) and angus (16) who had a really good race today. Still need to get fitter though need to do some more running!

Orienteering race (JIRC's Relay ) 38:22 [4] 3.5 km (10:58 / km) +110m 9:28 / km

Me James Alison and John Ockended

dreadful relay everyone went out too fast ! and everyone messed up the first control was tempted to go off my own way but the whole pack seemed to be going one direction which is stupid of i need to learn too not get distracted by people on relays especially on 1st legs! after mistake at 1 got back into the leading pack, catching up Joe woodley, zac field etc. proabably in the top 5 then me chris and dane all started running across a long marsh when they had a different gaffle which i new because we checked with each other, i tried aiming off but i was with them for too longg befroe aiming off so a bad final route choice ( 4 minute mistake) this cost me a lot) was in about 10m from the control but too low down . came back 15th out of 30. James made a lot of mistakes but got a few places back, 13th then john had a okay run and got back to 9th. Overall a GOOD weekend catching up with everyone and NW squad won overall! :)

Event: Jircs 2011

Orienteering race (JIRC's) 53:10 [5] 7.5 km (7:05 / km) +160m 6:24 / km

Been on this terrain two or three times didn't really help as this was back in year 7/8 when i was on oranges.Decent and fairly clean race! made up to about 2-3 minutes mistakes stopped short on about 2-3 controls. we were like running in 28 degrees of heat which seemed to drain me a bit and slow me down! the race was technical and physical in both aspects (good planning from chris) was first starter and set the pace, was good as i could concentrate on my own race and had no one to distract me! watched everyone come through after me...didn't think it would be fast to get me top 3 but came 3rd in the end which i'm really happy with ! happy with the race stratergy i went through with richard about starting slow and getting faster, as well as the reading the map more closley as the dunes were more complex! good individual and first out of all 1st year m16 :)
