JK Middle at Dunalastair.

Was cautious to #1 as it looked really difficult, but still managed to be too low and ended up in a re-entrant too far east, but fairly rapidly relocated and went back, lost about +30s, but so did nearly everyone. As a result was cautious to #2, but possibly a bit too slow as i lost another +30s. #3 and #4 were good by me, #4 was shocking by the map - I mean where was the veg boundary on the control, on the map? Was a bit hesitant on the route to #6 after crossing the green, I just lack confidence in my Orienteering when in dark green as I often seem to mess up there +20s. #7 was a bit lucky as I just popped out by the control after crossing the marsh. #8 was too cautious coming down the hill, I needed to set and be more confident in my bearing +30s. #9 was good, clear AP and clear route, dropped whoever I caught at this point.

#10 was good and clean. #11 was time loss all of my own fault. Got to the fence crossing and decided to wait to cross at the near stile rather than crossing the stile I acutally wanted to use so just stood there for a bit, doh! +10s. #12 was good, catching Tom Louth. #13 was frustrating, had a clear plan of running down the side of the spur, but was then thrown by a control along the route and decided that I had gone too far down, so went up to the ridge of the spur and then back down again before believing again, lost +70s. From there on I was good, if maybe a bit slow on the uphill to #17. Aidan caught me at #19 before the long downhill finish.

Thought I had sorta ruined my run, so was shocked to finish 4th - it was a day for big mistakes. Felt wierdly tired the whole way around.

Hip started hurting post warm down, bit wierd.
