Note
(injured)

Achilles still a bit sore , not taking any chances , it would be seriously depressing being injured this summer , with all i have coming up :LL

top of the noisy logs , peak of my attack point life so far !!
4 PM

Cycling long (long cycle , lydney) 2:45:30 [3] 76.98 km (2:09 / km) +852m 2:02 / km

i got bored of resting , and i had to get out of the house , so i decided to cycle somewhere new so i cycled to lydney in the forest of dean and back , from home , to bradley stoke , through almondsbury , aust , across the old severn bridge into wales , across to chepstow , and i followed the windy road all the way down to lydney , i had one 5 min stop at lydney , i didnt want to make it any longer than that in the posh town of lydney , then headed straight back the way i came , up the big hill in chepstow , the wind was quite low which was nice , although it was pretty strong on the severn bridge on the way back :L enjoyed it , nice temperture , nice weather ( except from the heavy rain through the 2 sections in wales ) and i felt pretty good :-)

to lydney = 1:25:32
back from lydney = 1:20:19

slightly quicker on the way back which is odd because usually its in reverse when cycling due to fatigue , and there was more hills on the way back too! pleased with it , especially as i forgot to have lunch beforehand , dont think thats a very clever thing to do though.....

Note

i have made the decision to go to cairngorm , i knew that whatever i chose i could not please everyone. but in the end i think for myself that cairngorm is the better option for improving my orienteering , and i should be grateful for the opportunities i am given.

so this concludes my orienteering summer timetable

June half term = Scottish champs (4 days)
mid June = Jukola Finland ( 3 days )
early july = swiss 5 days woc tour ( 9 days )
late july = cairngorm ( 7 days )
mid august = Sweden ( 2 weeks )

probably going to leave orienteering to a minimum between tours , to try and maintain high motivation levels. im looking forward to getting some really good overseas experience , this year i can add, France , Belgium, Finland , Switzerland , and Sweden to the new countries that i will have O'd in , cant wait :---)

Orienteering race (bristol uni sprint race) 32:19 [4] **** 6.79 km (4:46 / km) +100m 4:26 / km
spiked:22/27c shoes: Inov8 Terrafly 303

new map Bristol university , really not what i was expecting , it was a really brilliant race , and i dare say the most technical urban i have done before , some bits of the race like around #16 i found it easier to understand the barbican , started ok , a few short sprint legs , then into some student accomidation block which was pretty fiddly , caught tim at 5 , was slow but safe round 6 and 7 , which was really complicated , then cruised round the running legs , aimed to not let tim overtake me , and i succeeded , overshot 9 slightly , then it got back into the hard stuff , slowed down a lot for 13 and 14 , and 15 , then dropped a minute on 16 because it was really complicated , got a bit confused by the line cutting which led to me running into a dead end path , then i just stopped for 15 secs to try and work out how to get to it , then it went into Bristol grammar school which had quite a few fiddly walls , then down to the memorial buildings , think i took the best route to 23 , 24 was fiddly , then lost another 1 min on 25 where i didn't realise there was a gate , and it turned out it was open but closed at the other end , and i was stood in a primary school confused for 30 seconds , missed the best route to 26 , and i ran on the road , then ok to the finish.

a really good event put on and mapped by Duncan at last minute , one of if not the best sprint map i have run on , i will certainly be using this area for training , ............ of course however not half as good as frenchay will be ;-)
