british relay orienteering champs 2012 - helsington barrows, in a team with Duncan on first and Keith on second and me on third.

keith and duncan came back in a good position , and i just aimed for keeping it clean rather than fast , went to the wrong depression on #2 +25 secs , was ok through the middle of the course , then had an annoying 10 , where i ran straight to the control , but misread the description and ran away to check another hill , took a fair bit of time to realise and re-check my descriptions , +50 secs , apart from that it was alright , messed up the angle to 15 a bit but +10 secs lost tops. finished in a reasonable position.

unfourtanetly on this occasion Duncan decided he didn't feel like being a team player and decided that getting the the finish before johnny was more important that getting all the controls on his course. i knew this before i ran , but didnt let this put me off to much , pleased with the weekend overall :---)

Warm up , not a log one , just a gentle jog up the slope , and a few drills on the rough ground , quite hot while warming up in the sun .

British championships 2012 -dalegarth lake district M18E

Went out with low expectations ( maybe I perform best like this , I.e jk day 2 )
Took a couple of controls to get into the map, took the first 2 nice and slow to get into it , , made a smal cufufle on 4 when I ran to te wrong hill , but quickly realised +20 secs , missed the rope crossing on the way to 6 and had to cross further down , 7 was fun , but I was suprised when the hill had crags on it , small +25 on 8 , number 10 was risky ran a bit to fast
On a bearing and had to relocate a couple
Of times , but got there with not to much lost +30 secs , not concentrating 11,12 small +10/15 made on both , 13 ran hard , had to relocate in the circle +15 secs , 14 was very hard to see on the map , lost +30 secs , as I was in te wrong re-entrant , bad route on 18 , going through all the hilly stuff and then down to the stream + 45 secs , 20 was stupid , went straight up the hill not seeing the round route +1 min , after that kept it clean to the finish , unlike a lot .

Really pleased to finish in 3rd as a bottom year , 1:20 behind ciaran and a min down on Aidan :-)) then 4 mins up on chris on 4th , pretty chufffed :-) best ever British result , and 3rd at jk and British , I'll take that happily , just a shame the British isn't an eyoc race , ah well :-)

resting for tommorow , never felt so demotivated for the British before , im not sure if its because its moorland or because of exams or what :L hopefully i will feel more up for it tommorow though :-)

got selected for nick's Stockholm tour , and it sounds like there is some good races which should be good experience :-) , glad people like nick provide opportunities for a wide base of people , definetly not mentioning any big uk orienteering organisations who currently don't

Into college , overslept by an hour but still managed to get into college 10 mins earlier than yesterday :-) quite low traffic , little wind etc :) felt dead tired though :/

Stayed behind for revision again , quite warm weather on the way back.

bok urban series #3 at wrington , ( a small village in somerset )

reasonable weather , felt pretty tired before hand , slept all the way there. never really felt that i was that into it , running wasnt to bad , there wasnt much decision making at it was quite a runners course , but i did make a fair few mistakes , #4 i didnt see the little path and ran all the way round , +20 secs , almost fell flat on my face coming out of 5 , by a really slippery bit of mud on the small path around the park , then the orienteering became boring and pointless , and it was just long legs round public footpaths along fields for about 2k , then it got back into the intresting stuff , was ok for the majority until the end , where i binned +10 secs looking for a very well hidden control , 2 others were looking for it at the same time as me , before i spotted it stuffed inside a bush , then messed up 25 a fair bit , thought that the planner may have put it on the side i looked for routechoice to #26 but i should have looked at descriptions really , even after not seeing it , i looked round the back of the small building by the wall before working out it was on the other side . +30 secs

not a bad run , but not as well as i wanted , geoff got 32 , and ben beat me by a second , felt rather tired , heart rate a bit low , not sure if its the cycling and revision and not getting great sleep or maybe still recovering from the black on sunday :L hopefully i will be more alert for the british , i cant seem to concentrate atall when im tired :L

Into college , heavy rain from start to finish , crossed with load sod traffic as everyone decided to drive to work , took a while , and all day for me to fully dry off :/ depressing , next time I will take a spare change of clothes .

Complete weather change , it was sunny , the roads were dry and it was quite warm and I was just in a t shirt , quite enjoyable , a fair but of traffic around violations where there was about 3 police cars who decided to park in the middle of the road ? Surely parking on the edge won't make that much diffrence in time ?? Didn't see what it was about though , looked like it was in one of the houses .

Easy 30 min run , sunny , blue skies, down to oldbury court and along the bottom path by a very flooded and muddy river , then to snuff mills up the hill and back past the park home , a bit hillier and muddier than usual , felt fine :-) and I enjoyed it
