BOK trot 2012 - new beechenhurst ( forest of dean )
black course , 12.1 km

the area which is covered in streams was seriously flooded in parts , wet underfoot everywhere and constant heavy rain throughout the whole race, hit #1 ok even though there was no visible difference in vegetation , went inbetween 2 streams to 3 , when they eventually joined there was a flooded lake , which i had to find a way around . 4 was very very slippy and the vegetation could do wit remapping ,hesitated quite a bit on #6 +20 secs , messed up 9 a fair bit by looking by the wrong stream +45 secs , then it got to the fun really technical hill for 10 and 11 , 12 was really nice , couldent make sense of the ditches at #13 , then up a big hill and a small miss to 14 +20 secs , after this i was starting to lose interest , with the rain , and my concentration blue , spent 15 trying to work out how long it would take me to get to the finish , and 16 doing the same , made a little bit of a mid leg mistake on 16 , + 20 secs , 17 was fun ,richard barrat caught me at 19 , and i followed him to 20 which made me and him lost +1 min ( my biggest mistake ) 21 , almost died crossing the stream ,and Richard got away , then made a small miss in the circle +30 secs , then i pottered into the finish. came 7th , reasonbly pleased as i didnt feel atall fast , motivated , top person from bok , (keith and tim must have been messing around)

alan cherry won in 79 , i was 5 secs off 6th , good course , (cheers paul)
luckily the british wont be this long :--)

Note
(rest day)

Resting, got the black for the bok trot on Saturday , katherine is coming down later :-) , and I want to watch my hip and heel. Which were giving me a bit of jip on Sunday and Monday , could still feel the heel a little on Wednesday but it felt fine yesterday , probably going to miss swjs tommorow as it would be nice to have a free saturday for the first time in a while :)
10 AM

cycling (Into college) 27:21 [2] 11.4 km (2:24 / km)

Into college , wouldent normally have much to talk about but I got. NEW PB , traffic was light , a few 30 secs traffic light stops wait pretty pleased with myself. Sub 28 :O :O

On a negative note , I got into college and there was a really dodgy kid that I didn't recognise just sitting at the bike sheds watching me lock up my bike with a hood up while on the phone , i was really worried that he was going to mug me , but he didnt and I went to lessons , came back at 2:30 to here that 2 peoples bikes had got knicked , went and told security and told them the times for CCTV , watched as I was locking up my bike and almost as soon after I had went round the corner he jumped down and got some bolt cutters out and stole my friends bike , and simultaneously his other friend looking out for security knocked another one . That's 4 bikes in 2 weeks gone now :/ at least at the moment it's only coil locks there stealing , but I really hope the college does something about it , because the guy I saw didn't look friendly , some people really need to get a job and stop making a living off other people :/ .
2 PM

cycling (Home from college) 36:12 [2] 11.9 km (3:03 / km)

Back home , in the rain , via Cabot circus .

cycling (home from college) 30:48 [2] 10.2 km (3:01 / km)

back home , a bit later than usual as i stayed behind to do some revision for a couple of hours , was unlucky with the weather as i hit a really quite heavy shower on the way back.

Warm up/ warm down warm up/down (jog to a field) 7:43 [2] 1.4 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Terrafly 303

jog over to a field in stoke bishop , i dont know what its name is so i have named it stoke bishop common. surprisingly the rain had stopped for us

running intervals (intervals) 13:38 [5] 3.91 km (3:29 / km) +40m 3:19 / km
ahr:175 max:185 shoes: Inov8 Terrafly 303

intervals with the club from stoke bishop common , the main session was 2.3k,1.5k,800m , but as i wanted a slightly shorter distance session i did , 1.5k,800m,800m,800m. the field was pretty wet , and a little bumpy and had a small climb in each of the reps . we were lucky it didnt rain , standing recoveries between each of around 2-3mins
1) 1.51k - 5:23 - MHR= 180
2) 0.80k - 2:46 - MHR= 183
3) 0.80k - 2:42 - MHR= 185
4) 0.80k - 2:39 - MHR= 184

a quite short session , times have room for improvement , but pretty pleased considering in January i was doing 800's in 3 mins and it felt reasonably comfortable too :-)

from home up to UWE in the rain , went to the proposed area of the registration , before where the actual registration was

Orienteering race (urban race #2 UWE) 22:11 [4] **** 4.92 km (4:31 / km) +23m 4:24 / km
ahr:178 max:183 spiked:29/29c shoes: Inov8 Terrafly 303

bok urban race #2 at the university of western England
(long 3.9k 29 controls )

raining when i started , didnt really have many problems on the course ( i planned here last year ) small error on 1 as it wasn't where i expected ,but nothing major , the grass was really slippery , and the tiny stream was a small river , got a bit confused with the map around 11 , where the circle covered a fence , i knew there was a fence there , but as the map wasnt cut i assumed that it had been taken down , as i trusted the planner , lost around 6/7 mins . flowed round the rest nicely at a reasonable speed :-) pleased to not make any mistakes , but i did know most of the control sites , a good course planned by Keith at short notice :-)
