Brown Non Compete at Hay Creek. Glad I was not competing. Tried to make the best of the greenest of woods but wasn't enjoying myself and almost came in early. Then I ran into Hughmac3 and we decided to carry on as a father daughter team. That made it much more enjoyable! I did not see, only heard the expletives that came with the thrashing he got on his legs going to number 7. Well, he was wearing shorts.

Yoga 1:30:00 [3]

Sweated my ass off today. Really tried to be mindful of my back and still got an amazing workout. I survived a whole week! Back feels okay right now. :)

Walk 20:00 [3]

Quick walk on a break from yoga training. Learned a lot today! But didn't do a full practice. Did various things throughout the day, and observed a really hard class I was glad I was sitting out. Sitting for 1.5 hours and being quiet and observing was it's own kind of practice. Then I got to "teach" the class for one flow and that was fun and interesting. My back continues to feel a little funky and I've upped the Alleve to 2 a day, one in the morning and one at night. I think stopping the cardio that I'm used to isn't helping, so I'm going to try to walk as much as possible and lighten my bag that I've been carrying (so many books!)

Yoga 40:00 [3]

Only made it through Flow 3 today. (That's after warm up, 5 sets of Sun salutation A and 3 sets of Sun Salutation B.) During a forward fold, the teacher (one of the younger ones with less experience) came up and pressed me farther into the fold. I told her I have lower back issues and she said "oh does this hurt?" I said yes but she didn't stop pressing. She told me to bend my knees which I already was. I'm kind of pissed at her for not listening or knowing this info already despite it being the 3rd time I told her. So I left class and took a walk around which was really nice. Our main instructor yesterday told us not to worry if we couldn't do the whole class everyday so I'm working on feeling okay that I couldn't do it. One last complaint, where is the fucking air conditioning?

You have good days (yesterday I did my first headstand!) and you have bad days I guess. Onward ho!

Ps after class and she does not even ask me if I'm okay.

Walk 30:00 [3]

Note

Had a discussion with the main teacher and I am not going to do full practice every day, but instead, I'll do two full intense practices a week with everything tapering up or down accordingly, including some rest days too. I will observe class and learn that way while I'm not yoga-ing. I guess the real hard work I have to do is being able to identify the physical limits of my back injury and also learning to recognize when I'm mentally rejecting the idea of pushing farther, which I typically do out of fear that it might hurt me. Also recognizing when I'm pushing too far because I'm competitive and I think I should be able to do whatever the 23-year olds do.

On another note, Hughmac3 did a headstand tonight during beer o'clock.
