Okay, something must be done about this weight gain creeping up on me. Gained 4lbs since March! Must be all the beer I've been drinking. I'm officially on a diet starting right now. Would like to get back down to 115 or thereabouts. (For those who don't know, I used to be 40lbs heavier, and it was really hard to lose that weight!)

Green DNF at Hammonds Rocks

Kind of a dumb decision on my part to even go to this event considering the distance to get there. Things just kept going wrong: forgot my socks, my GPS sent me up a road that was unpaved and washed out in places, and I arrived kind of a little white-knuckled. That's when the rain began. Ok, no prob. Did the first few controls and that's when I noticed my map was getting blurry. Hm, whatevs, kept going...after #5 had trouble seeing the trails in the dark green and took a stupid route choice through there. As I was doubling back to go another longer way, b/c I lost the trail, I realized that I couldn't even really see how to get to #6 or #7 b/c of the state of my bedraggled wet map - the colors were bleeding and had no clarity. So, decided to skip those and skip #8 too bc it looked like a long trek through woods (which weren't white by any stretch of the imagination and the way to #8 included green slash) and somehow couldn't even find #9. So I just gave up altogether and had a nice little run back to the start/finish area.

Glad I got a workout, and thanks to everyone for putting on the meet of course. To top it all off, got a call from my dogwalker on the way home asking for the key to my house. Oops. Forgot to put it in the lockbox. So - terrible dog mom, terrible orienteer.

Dog is fine, of course. I'd like to return to HR sometime and do some better orienteering!
