No 3rd injection needed (woo hoo!) but I have a 'no heavy lifting' restriction from my doctor, which means I am unable to do the job I was hired to do at Merion. I'm hoping they will work with me to modify the position somewhat, and am nervously waiting for a reply.
Since the injections addressed the symptom of inflammation but not the cause (stenosis and herniated disc,) I will have to be careful not to lift, lift and twist, and overtax my back in general. Also keep doing the stretches. It's hard to know just how careful I have to be, and I am trying not to live in too much fear of re-injuring myself. If the pain does come back, I still have 2 more injections I can get.
This year, my O goals are to go to local meets, see how I feel, just go slow and work on navigation. I don't want to worry too much about results (easier said than done,) and if things are going well then maybe Fair Hill A Meet and NAOC in the fall. I'd like to do the Radnor 5K again, and maybe one more trail race, too. Fingers crossed that the injection has holding power and I will be able to do these things. Work has to be my first priority, but without O my life would be depressing, as it was one of the few things I felt really joyous about this last year.
Thanks, AP, for listening and giving your encouragement when I've needed it.
