Back Stretches 30:00 [3]

FOUND MY COMPASS!!!! YAY!!! It was just sitting there on the picnic table.

I'm still going to buy a backup though, in case it ever happens again.

Leg hurting a lot today, but this wonderful snow makes it all okay. :)

Orienteering 55:14 [4] 2.14 mi (25:49 / mi) +581ft 20:32 / mi
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3

Ridley Brown Course. What a great course! I really enjoyed doing this without controls. Tried to mimick epunching ("boop!") but probably could add some time for that. I remember how to orienteer! :)

Sadly, I lost my compass near the end. Any recommendations for thumb compasses out there? Mine was very old (and lucky...)

Jog (Gingerly) 35:44 [4] 3.39 mi (10:32 / mi) +148ft 10:07 / mi
shoes: Brooks Glycerin

Felt like a tub of lard. Or a puddle of mud. A dollop of peanut butter. A jar of molasses. Etc.

Leg hurting on dog walk this a.m., felt better after sitting for a while, felt ok on jog but then foot started tingling after I stopped. Now leg hurts a bit, but not too bad.

It's amazing how quickly you can get out of shape, and how long it takes to get IN shape.

Note

Doc appt went well, he is referring me to a pain management doc who will likely prescribe cortisone injections at the site of the pinched nerve. He also said that walking/running on the inflamed nerve wasn't necessarily a bad thing (opposite of what PT said,) and that keeping the blood flow to that area is healthful. It is just at my discretion to what pain level I can manage. It is the lifting / twisting that he wants me to avoid at all costs (and referred to 'the rest of your life,' as the time frame. This is to keep the herniated disc from further damage. The stenosis is not something we can undo.) He also gave me some non-narcotic pain meds to take as needed (before orienteering?? just kidding...?)

He wants to see me in another 4 weeks and does not recommend returning to work during this time. So, all in all, a good appt with a forward direction and a possibility of positive outcomes. If after 4 weeks there is no improvement he will refer me to a back doc. Wants me to avoid surgery since he believes my previous surgery is partially to blame for my current situation, and that surgery could lead to further issues down the road. So, I tend to agree with him. :)

OK, let's go for a f***ing walk now!!

"last" scheduled PT for the time being, got re-evaluated after 4 wks She says I have improved my leg and core strength, but that if i'm still having pain (which I am) it's time to figure out the "next step." Doc appt tomorrow to do just that. I am to keep doing the stretches (forever??) ;)
