weight:115lbs

My legs are trashed- and I didn't even run that much yesterday !
And I'm falling asleep on the job. It was worth it.

Orienteering race 1:52:29 [4] 4.0 km (28:07 / km)
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3

West Point Green Y, Day 2 Middle

Yup, did it again - finished! :) (and under the time limit too...low expectations here.)

Mistakes abounded today, sometimes I was clear where I was, other times I wasn't sure. Saw quite a bit of Julie Keim and there was some solidarity there. It was pretty hard, rough terrain and tough navigation. I'm sure I went many more km than the above distance, but again, GPS watch in the shop. I can't think straight right now, but my biggest mistakes were #2 and 3, where I just couldn't get contact with the map. I saw other good orienteers out there looking confused too.

But wow what a great experience this weekend was, I feel very happy to be alive and to know there are good people in the world -- who are even crazier than I am!

Orienteering race 1:35:37 [4] 4.2 km (22:46 / km)
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3

West Point Green Y - much farther distance due to terrible navigation, but GPS watch is not working (bummer!)

What can I say except I made it out of there alive! :) Lost over 35 minutes on mistakes, it's a new record!

1- lost pace count and wasn't sure how far i'd gone, no confidence, 25 minutes on first control!! very bad.
2-7 all good
8- a doozy. obviously the lack of sleep got me, i punched 7 and then tried to go to 7 again from 7, but with the clue of 8 in my brain. where is the spur? got back to 7, relocated, and then got lost again. twisted my ankle and fell down hard.
9-F all good

There is so much going on on this map, so many cliffs and boulders and little things that are hard to see if you're not scrutinizing it closely...it will provide me many evenings of armchair orienteering!

Did not do Sprint b/c of ankle.

Nice fish tacos dinner with Tom O, Petr H, and Robert Hesketh.

Very beautiful area and weather, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow!

Note

Work is just exploding! Wish I could have gotten some exercise today, but I can't feel too bad, I was on my feet all day. Tomorrow is another crazy day at work with a lot of designs to make. I'm sure I'll be glad to get to my bed tomorrow night!

Run 42:11 [4] 4.5 mi (9:22 / mi)
shoes: nike lunarglide +3 minty

Tried something new, intervals.

Started with 2 minutes warmup jog.

10 paces fast run, 10 paces slow jog, 20f, 20s, 30f, 30s, 40f, 40s, 50f, 50s, 40f, 40s, 30f, 30s, 20f, 20s, 10f, 10s. 1 minute normal jog. Repeat for a total of 3 cycles with a minute slow jog in between each and a minute or two of normal jog at the end.

Sadly my GPS function was not working, and I am super bummed b/c I wanted to see how fast I was going when I was going fast, etc. Did the mileage using google maps.

This kept my mind occupied, and I felt strong doing it. The resulting pace is better than I thought it would be!! I will definitely do this again!

(Note: for pacing, I count every other left footfall.)
