Hike 55:00 [3]
weight:116lbs shoes: Salomon XA Comp 5 GTX

horn pond: the section i'm still exploring and don't know totally well yet.
mostly walked moderately and also did some billy goat sprinting (went up some big old rocks/cliffs, up and over trails.)

you know that feeling when you're dreaming and something is chasing you and you can't run? you just feel sluggish and awful? i just felt the OPPOSITE of that---like i wanted to burst up and down trails and i actually could. (well not for any great length of time...)

this was also great considering i started the day feeling like i was getting a cold. spring like weather does wonders.

happy new year, legs!

Note
weight:115.2lbs

last year at this time i weighed 140lbs+. 25lbs later, i feel significantly different: i can actually jog for periods of time and not hurt my back, i have more energy, i feel more like my old self. i'm actually contemplating visiting brandon while he's in florida in february and packing a bathing suit.

i look back on the previous year of AP and see that i did some really good work, and i had some great support from the hughs. thanks guys, you really are the best.

for 2012, my goals:

-maintain current body weight
-maintain yoga/pilates workouts, they are great for my core/back
-improve cardio/get heart rate up (more jogging, less walking as my back will allow; xc skiing if it will ever snow!! find other exercises -- suggestions?)
-more orienteering / hiking with map
-more strength training
-increase overall number of hours of exercise each week

of course it's hard to really know what i need to do, since i haven't weighed in on the OMRON!

happy new year a few days ahead of schedule.

Trails w/Map 31:00 [3]

horn pond woods, trails i have not yet been on courtesy of the NEOC map. ran the first 20 (got huffing and puffing anyway!) and walked the rest. i discovered a new entry point to the woods that's much more convenient and off the beaten track. i'm going to blow larry's mind the next time we come together!

Pushups/Situps/Curls 20:00 [3]

plus some stretching

Yoga/Pilates 40:00 [3]

new workout vid (pilates)...some of it too hard for me but i'll get there. there were 3 levels and i did most in level 2, a few in level 3. every time you think, ah i can do this, then she rachets it up a level. level 3 example: get in a plank position (as if you're about to do a full pushup) and then lift one leg up straight behind you and do concise leg circles, both directions. that is tough! try it, guys!

Hike 30:00 [2]
weight:115.5lbs

Icy dirt roads some quite steep, pretty cold out. Sunny and nice to get out of the kitty house. Air is so fresh and pure out here in the wilds of NH!
