Trails w/Map 1:15:00 [3]

Pine Hill Woods with Map: lots of people and dogs in the woods (great pyrenees, goldendoodle, black pug to name a few.) i got hot out there, i guess that means i'm doing something right. my map-reading skills, however, are lacking. need some practice and help with that i guess.

Gym-Strength Training 1:00:00 [3]

the usual: elliptical for 15; strength training circuit - machine and free weights; abs + stretches; elliptical for 10min. the Y was busy this morning! lady next to me on the elliptical machines had her heart rate about 175 - i was worried about her as she looked ready to fall off. i need to learn more about target heart rates and where i'm supposed to be to get the most out of what i'm doing.

Hike 20:00 [2]

Horn Pond woods walk shortened due to misbehaving dog and incorrect clothing choice...but we did some "it's cold out here" sprints together and my legs felt great! There is one big patch of woods that's all large white pine trees, and underneath a carpet of soft reddish pine needles creates a very inviting scene-one you'd expect elves to pop out of!

Gym-Strength Training 1:15:00 [3]

elliptical 15 min; strength circuit with machines and free weights, abs+stretches; elliptical 10 min. today i started to feel like my body is getting with the program.

met a really nice older man named dave with 2 fused vertebrae - i recognized he had a back problem based on the exercises he was doing--all the same back stretches i do. when i asked him about his pain level, he said 'it's always about a 4.' i have it pretty good compared to him...only a 2.

the Dreaded elliptical machine...made tolerable with i Pod. also fun to watch people swimming in pool below. oh, i probably wouldn't have gone tonight - but i saw hughmac3's entry and i got motivated. thanks!

Trails w/Map 1:20:00 [4]

Pine Hill Woods Walk with Dog (off leash) and Husband

i'm listing this as a 4 in intensity for:

1) how cold it was
2) how steep it was (for me)
3) how mad i got

all in all i'm glad i got out there but i'm not good at letting go of control. we were 'off the map' (under the clue section) and got a little turned around...i wanted to go one way, he wanted to go another. in the end we had a nice hike and explored some new territory, but it was 'intense.' you should see the map.

15 min on elliptical; fitness machines for arms/legs; abs and stretches; 7 min on elliptical. i feel sort of artificial after doing this, i really wish i could run. those of you who can - please delight in the feeling for me.
