at the last moment, a colleague joined me for this. she needed to walk a lot of it, so i didn't get as good of a workout...but glad we got the chance to squeeze something in right after work.

i'm excited for all the plans being made for naoc, etc; but sad that i've had to make the decision not to go this year. i haven't been orienteering well, have a very tight budget, and am looking forward to this transition starting to smooth out finally in october. i really need to get my priorities straight and get back to orienteering!!! :))

TNT tyler - or where did I go? Not sure since I don't know my way around too well, I just took some paths and did some exploring and came back the same way and then did a little on the fields. By then wasn't feeling super terrific.

walk around the fields thinking maybe i had pushed too hard this week in general, with everything going on, and bailed on the dinner part. sorry guys!

actually it's been a solid year since i hit 20 miles in one week (i didn't count the winter where i was logging stationary bike miles)..and then last fall, after doing a lot of longer workouts and orienteering, i had all the back trouble. so i just need to be careful to not overdo it. (but i think it's the "no heavy lifting" that has really been the secret to my back being a lot better)

anyway, hoping that i can get through this next week and get my house back soon and become a single person taking care of myself completely. :)

late lunchbreak today. some jogging where i felt like it, and down a neat grassy alleyway that cuts through backyards - there is a system of these in conshohocken that i'm exploring. so far only one grassy one i've found, the rest are paved, but still a neat glimpse into people's backyards.

Radnor Steeplechase...my 2nd race ever! Beat my time from last year, and I'm in worse shape than I was last year and the course was harder. 3 mudpits vs 1 last year. The 3rd mile was pretty tough this year - note to self for next year it just gets harder and harder as you go. (PS just changed this to my 'chip time,' which was 10sec faster than the clock time.)

This year's mile splits: 9:39, 10:49, 11:10, 1:04
Last year's mile splits: 10:04, 11:13, 10:48, :58

The one small negative, which I know I shouldn't care about but I do - I saw a woman who ended up getting a trophy in her age category NOT going over the obstacles, just going around them. That ain't right, sister!

Feel really great that hughmac4 came in 3rd in his age category!! Great to see all the Ahlswedes and Julie Keim who ran even while battling her cold. And Julie Mac's friend who I encouraged to come got 2nd place in F45-49! A good showing by all the DVOA peeps; missed Clem and Rileys this year. Thanks to the whole Swarthmore gang for cheering us on.
