Hip quite sore today. I figured it probably wasn't the best thing to be going up and down stairs, so I went to the aths track to do some tempo work, but my hip was too sore. I walked for a bit and then tryed running again but it was no use. Ideally I would've done some bike riding but I had to get to another rehearsal in town so I didn't have any time. Hmm. Not sure what to do about hip.

It was raining really heavily so I went to the pool and swam 1km in half an hour then 5min break then another 1km. I feel as if I'm becoming more efficient with my freestyle - I can keep doing laps without taking a break.

It stopped raining, so I decided to go for a run too. It was still cold. I came across a lost kelpie, and was wondering what to do when someone came along with a phone, who rang the number on it's collar. We ended up walking the dog back to his house in Brunswick to wait until the council could pick her up. I then found my way into central Brunswick (in the dark) and ran back down Sydney Road and Royal Parade to get home. I'm glad I decided to go for a run - otherwise that dog would've had a very cold night.
Time not very accurate because I forgot to switch it off when I stopped for the dog. Hip didn't bother me much, which was good. Maybe it's recovering!

Great Ocean Road Half Marathon - such a beautiful road to run along! Rolling fields, old farmhouses and cottages, and beaches just like Tasmania.

Splits vary quite a bit because of the gradient changing. Right knee got pretty bad half way through but improved again before the end - found it pretty tough on the joints in general, but what a feeling when you're getting near the end! Definitely worth every minute that went into it.

I made it to an orienteering event at last! It was dark and raining but definitely worth going. It was my first night event, and it was lots of fun. Someone gave me a lift home :-)
In the hustle of organising everything a forgot to take my GPS, so I don't know how far I went!

Note

Went by train out to Ferntree Gully to meet up with some others from MUMC for a walk around and up One Tree Hill, down the '1000 stairs' then back up the stairs and back down again. It was unbelievably nice to breath some fresh, cold air again :)

Aus 24 Rogaining Champs in Flinders Ranges. I COULD not find a partner from Melb Uni who was willing to be away for 4 days, so I ended up going with my parents (I think I've since persuaded some to come next year though, after telling them all about the Flinders eeepp). The plan was to go back to the Hash House but we found an unexpected hut around 11.30, so slept there for a couple of hours and ended up never going back. I'm not sure how far we travelled as I didn't realise we could take a GPS, but we successfully navigated over moon-lit hills and riverbeds through the night and got our 1000 points. So well done to Sarah and team mate Ben, who got well over 2000 points and came second overall (cough).

7hr bus trip up to the Ranges with a few scenic routes along the way up dirt tracks before the bus driver remembered this wasn't actually the road he thought he remembered and we reversed all the way back to the previous junction...haha
