Running race 2:01:02 [4] 21.1 km (5:44 / km) +500m 5:08 / km

Kowen Trail Half marathon with Ollie & Ciaran
Great turnout for this first time race from Womboin Community Hall. The 0800 start was still on the chilly side and I was wearing gloves and t-shirt. Very relaxed race and lots of friendly chatting along the way.

First and last few kms were on the road, rest was on single trail or dirt roads. As usual we didn't read the course description too much and were a bit surprised to find so many hills and consequent down hills which was fun but hard on quads. Power walked the really steep bits.

Started at a comfortable pace and did 7 kms in 40', 14 kms in 80' but must have slowed down a bit towards the end. Some young thing flew past me during the last km. Came 4th in 2.01.02 and was really happy how strong I felt during the whole race.

Great race and will be back next year. Loved the food and local market.

AIS with husband. Had a really late night and was feeling tired. Allowed myself to take it easy and just do 1km. Once I did 600m w/u, I was fine and actually improved my 500m PB down to 10:41. Added usual 12 x 50s on 70 and felt good for it :-)

Orienteering 20:00 [3]

Day 3 - Australian 3 day

Did really well through the technical rocky stuff until #7 where I caught up to Martina Craig who started 1 minute in front of me. Rather than just relaxing and stay on the job, I decided just like on Saturday I should do something different and of course it backfired. Took a different route choice without a proper plan and found myself standing around - trying to relocate. Lost focus and confidence and made a few more mistakes which meant I lost my narrow lead after 2 days and came 2nd overall behind Jenny.

Still very happy with result - given I am running against the young ens.

Orienteering race 58:10 [3]

Day 2 of Australian 3 day - W45
Overall ok run but still managed 2 mistakes. Short leg contouring through crappy stuff made me drop too much and spent time fossicking. Lost 2 1/2 minutes. Did well on long legs despite temporarily losing it - fitness is not my problem.
Another brain fart at second last control. Lost 1 mins.
Came 2nd again - this time behind Martina - 1.46 behind.
