Orienteering race 48:44 [4] ***** 3.3 km (14:46 / km) +160m 11:53 / km

Haverthwaite Galoppen - Organiser so early start. Gales throughout the day.
Tried Green course - #1 & #2 clean. Ran across broken wall without seeing on way to #3. Stopped one re-entrant too early and checked for 15secs, then decided to keep going until next wall and found control in next re-entrant. Too high contouring to #4 plus comic slow motion shoulder roll in the wet. Clean through #5,#6, long leg to #7 & #8. In to #9 and found planners yellow peg on an adjacent crag which threw me - set off down slope rather than back up so wasted a minute or so. Clean through #10 & #11 to finish.

Seemed to have very little energy across the sodden ground so surprised to finish 4th.

Birkrigg Night Event. Very slow waddle around - no major mistakes - just bad lines.

Old gits run from Café Ambio - Backbarrow. Up and around back of Dick Newby's tarn, over Bigland by observation tower, around back of Trout Farm lake and loop onto top road. Connect by road to Bigland bridleways, drop down Bigland hill, up Trundle Brow and down hill to finish. Bitter cold day - very tired at end.
