Steady away along coast road with Rachel. Drizzly rain, poor visibility and twats driving too fast and too close when overtaking meant we turned inland at Baycliff. Rach turned for Birkrigg & home whilst I headed down to Scales & then Gleaston.
Met Ann & Roger Smith on bikes just before Gleaston and stopped for a chat. Then the motorway & back through Urswicks. OK on a grey day.

Kirby Moor - very wet underfoot.
Feeling tired from the off so taking things steady - wind out of the north east so in my face for all of the climbs. Left hip also sore from the off and never completely eased off.
Much stretching needed . . .

Birkrigg, Scales, Gleaston, Dendron hill, Urswick.
Felt I was going ok early on and realised how well when I mistakenly rode over Birkrigg in the big ring! Steady along some lanes due to the amount of blackthorn litter from hedge trimming but worked hard on all of the hills without feeling sick.
Par time has always been 60minutes for this loop so happy with the time.

Had planned a steady around the lake with Rachel. Unfortunately she was suffering on the climbs from early so we parted ways just by Hawkswell.
Very slow from there, never feeling very spry. Up the west side of Consiton with the few cars that were out treating it like a race track. Back down east side.
Haven't been in the saddle for that long in a while so backside very sore :o(.
