Orienteering Meet race 45:55 intensity: (14:11 @2) + (11:49 @3) + (18:34 @4) + (1:21 @5) **** 2.26 mi (20:19 / mi) +157m 16:43 / mi
ahr:132 max:177 shoes: Invo8 Red

Long US Champs Big Basin California.
Actually felt good today, but had a major headache the night before and through out this meet. Decided I must of been bit by a tick in Wisconsin.

My route to the first control sucked. I took as much trail as possible, thought I split the creeks and thought I was going right to the clearings for the control.
I ended up seeing the road and decided I couldn’t O in the woods and came in from the longer route ugh!
The 4th control I thought I was looking for a spur as the 5Th control was a spur in the cluesheet and this control looked like a spur on the map to me.
I was up a hill looking down at the control before I figured it out. Ugh.
Rest of the course beside the steep down hill after no.4 had no major big tree obstacles.

Model event, not that great and only picked up 4 or so controls.

Orienteering Meet 1:17:01 intensity: (1:41 @2) + (17:41 @3) + (29:26 @4) + (28:13 @5) **** 2.5 mi (30:49 / mi) +145m 26:06 / mi
ahr:149 max:184 shoes: Invo8 Red

Middle US Champs Big Basin California.

After the model, which I did 3-4 controls energy levels were low. Long flight, frustration trying to get out of San Jose with a phone that didn’t seem to direct well. Lost an hour, must of been dehydrated and seemed to be in the dreaded Afib.
I decided to go out anyway and was doing ok, but messed up no.7 and could hardly make the uphill parts.
The terrain wasn't as bad as some might of thought, but was messy just the same.
Hit my airb&b in Santa Cruz and tried to get some sleep.

Running 50:29 intensity: (8 @0) + (23 @1) + (41 @2) + (43:31 @3) + (5:18 @4) + (28 @5) 4.29 mi (11:46 / mi) +47m 11:23 / mi
ahr:133 max:164 shoes: Black Solomon

Run at Parkside with my Jamaican dog Sweetie. Her first time doing this and she was fine as a running partner. Actually let her run by me off the leash and she was good. Didn’t see any other dogs on the trail to deal with so that was helpful.

Buffalo Grove 5k. Ate way too much good lamb kabobs last night.
Oh well, felt ok on a misty morning. Real suburban type course, but did run a bit in a park. Wish I was in Oregon at the daze instead.
