Fishtrap Lake map.
Decided to do the Kid 10.2K and not the Goat 16k
Most my 60+ competitors were doing the Kid also.
About 30 started this event mass start.
Not much orienteering at the start, follow the leader event for the first part and try not to lose contact. Rich took a great route going around a big rock while others squeezed between the rock and a marsh. He took the lead from there for the peloton that followed. There was another fast guy and not sure where he went. Have not seen any results yet.
The two skips were 9 and 10. I was not sure where I was going to skip , but when the pack headed to 11, I went with. Ryan was within striking distance of Rick and at 14 I could see both. Passed Rick going to 15, punched first at 16.
I woobled going to 17 and he caught up and passed me, but we were together at 17 with the final control a big decision on route choice either left around these big marshes or right, easier but longer choice to the right and I asked him local knowledge which looked better, we went longer right. Longer time wise too as the left route was 90 seconds faster. I punched the last control first but he kicked the 200 meters to the finish to whoop me.
GT was 2.5 min back and there was another guy who punched just after us at the last control who took the left and faster route. Whew

Moses lake Washington
First event by the Cascade O Club. Course setter Dave T.
Sand dunes and lots of seedie grass fox tail that causes you hours of pulling out seeds from socks and lesser time from shoes and clothes. This is why they invented cheap Walmart socks to toss after these events.
Since I flew in Friday, I had little energy for this, the heat and marshes to go around to find controls took its toll. I ended up mis punch on the course near the end.
Nice to see old orienteering friends.

Bristol woods in the rain, thunder and far away lightening. Brian's organized/unorganized wed night trail runs. He marks a course, run as many loops as u like. Has water and Gatorade after, I brought the beers.
Very small turnout due to he weather I'm sure.
He's putting on a mile run 4th of July just 5 miles away. Guess I'm going to train for it when I get back from Idaho :-)
