Day 2 2018 US Masters Champs AKA duel of the Pig Champs with GT.
Going into today I was down about 8 minutes and 20-21 in head to head pig results.! GT started 2 min ahead of me as I had started 2 minutes ahead of him yesterday. I guess it’s always better to chase than be chased.
We never saw each other during the event today.
I started out fairly clean, but he missed number 4 bad and you just have to wonder if looking over you shoulder is not good for Orienteering. On the long leg to 10 I drifted way low to the road and was fine after that, but GT picked up 3 minutes on that leg. Should of cost me, but as luck would have it when I finished I expected him there. Walter was and I was 6 min faster than him and he was third yesterday, GT not in yet and my first ever classical championship. Of course it took me to be 65 to get it , and on a map I always wanted to run again after missing the US middle Champs due to a cracked rib 4 years ago.
Chicago was here this weekend in full force with 20 plus Orienteers too!
Fun club dinner with everyone at an Italian resturtant last night with extra friends from other clubs.
