Note

St. Mary's Tri

swimming 30:56 [3] 1.5 km (20:37 / km)

71 degrees, calm surface. Actually felt pretty good on the swim, too bad the feeling didn't last for the rest of the race.

biking 1:48:56 [3] 26.4 mi (4:08 / mi) +100m 4:05 / mi

Apparently getting less than 8 hours of sleep total between Friday morning and Sunday morning (following a week of poor sleep to boot) negates any benefit from a thorough taper. Felt simply wiped as I started the bike, despite having eaten some breakfast and being well hydrated. I'm sure the heat didn't help any, either, as my heartrate was quite high and I was sweating quite a lot and starting to get a few cramps in both my stomach and legs, which makes me think that maybe I wasn't as well hydrated as I thought.

running 1:18:46 [3] 6.2 mi (12:42 / mi)

And then the heat absolutely destroyed me on the run. Just a slow slog to the finish, fighting stomach cramps the whole way, which has never happened to me before. Note to self- rushing back from a TAD just to make it home in time for a race is probably not the best recipe for success.
