orienteering 45:00 [1]

Stopped by Pineland Farms for lunch and to wear Katherine out before our flight home. Grabbed an orienteering map of the area from the outdoor center, then just noodled along some of the trails until Katherine lost interest.

From the hotel, down to Pondicherry park, cut through the park on the trails, and back.

Walking around Mt Washington with Jeremy and Katherine. And by walking, I mean carrying Katherine when her legs stopped working.

swimming (Lake) 35:00 [3]

Finally got a swim in the lake done to justify dragging my wetsuit all the way up here. Fortunately it's actually quite lightweight and doesn't take up much room, and even better- its perfect for water temps in the low to mid-60s, which is right about the temp I expect Smith Mountain Lake to be next month.

Walking around the Maine wildlife park with Katherine. She loved the beavers, porcupines, owls, and bears. Wasn't at all sure what to do with the moose, though, as they were substantially bigger and stinkier than her stuffed moose I got her last year. She was very excited running through the park yelling "hi moose!" until she was nose to nose with one.

Near the hotel in Bridgeton. Its vacation, which means Katherine isn't sleeping well, so it was basically dusk by the time she went to bed, we had dinner, and I was able to get out of the room for a bit. The weather cleared up nicely, though, so a very nice evening. Yay for cool temps!

Stroll around the park with Katherine and Jeremy, since the weather wasn't quite nice enough for flying.

UNO camping weekend! We got into Maine late Saturday night, so only went for Sunday, but still got to see lots of friends and do some awesome orienteering. The first half of my course went fairly well, once I remembered how to read a map- its been a while. I figured the leg to #6 was rife with opportunity to goober it up completely, but I managed to stay somewhat in control. Took it slow, though, and definitely made some mistakes. Then promptly lost all focus on 7 and 8, losing several minutes due to bad habits. Overran 9, because I stayed too high, then had no issues on 10. Lots of fun, and great courses, I just need to get out on a map more than I have.
