Note
Quantico sprint triathlon
So, learning points from this tri- pre-race insomnia keeps getting the better of me, I spent all but 3 hours of the night laying awake and stressing about not being able to sleep. Left with plenty of time (or so I thought) to get to the race and set up, but unforeseen traffic once I was on base left me with only about 5 minutes in the transition area to set up. So, no swim warm-up and again so stressed that I couldn't eat breakfast. Certainly not ideal for a sprint, but thankful the race wasn't longer, since I would have been suffering for sure. The course and weather were fantastic, so no issues there, except it would have been nice to know that the run was on gravel roads- pleasant surprise, but I would have chosen different shoes. Overall, just not as fast as I was envisioning, and no one to blame but myself- undertrained and under-rested doesn't generally add up to a blazingly fast race. 8 weeks until my next tri, though, so time to regroup and get back to training!
