swimming (survival training) 2:00:00 [1]
(sick)

wouldn't normally log this as training, but considering the sheer dread of that stupid SWET (shallow water egress trainer) chair-o-death. pure torture. and my heart rate got up well above 100, so I figure that has to count for something. and swimming around for a few hours with 50 lbs or so of flight gear on is a surprisingly good workout, especially since i never did get my LPD working properly, so I was neutrally buoyant at best. the helo dunker was as fun as ever-they even got the new gucci model that was down in p'cola and they had the new chutes to play with-much nicer! and they tell us we might even survive if we have to bailout with these new chutes. woohoo!

orienteering (long sprint) 50:15 [3]

Long sprint up at lake fairfax. I had hoped to do at least a couple of the courses, but it took a little longer than i had anticipated to get to the meet, and following my stellar face-plant into the dirt on the long course, I decided to call it a day. Started off a little chilly, but by the 4th control or so, was feeling good and warmed-up, so i decided to try and see how fast i could run while keeping in contact with the map. This appeared to be a good strategy until I was on my way to #9, when i was distracted for a split second and managed to do a spectacular endo right into the ground. Ironically, without the help of either my bike or a particularly impressive hill. After picking myself up and determining that my sunglasses were somehow intact, it took me until #11 or so to walk off both my damaged pride and my banged up knees. Ended up hitting my shoulder pretty bad, still (on monday) can't raise it above about 60 degrees or so without some serious pain, although the swelling in both my shoulder and wrists has gone down.
