Racecourse Creek - Course 6A (M55A)
A far better effort than on Saturday finishing in the top third. Quite a varied map with enough features to help you keep in contact with the map unlike the day beforehand. No big mistakes, just slow on the hills after running 8 days out of 9. A fun carnival overall, however could have done without the heat on Wednesday and Thursday as it left me drained before the second weekend.

Kangaroo Crossing - Course 9 (M55A)
DNF - probably best forgotten! OK to 1 then overshot 2 (a hard control) so had to relocate from the rough open to the south. Then took a bearing from 3 to 4 although I was at 2, luckily only a short leg so manage to correct myself and find 3. After some dithering decided to take the northern route on the long leg to 5. Passed 10 as planned but lost contact heading SW through the thick stuff. Came across control 120 (c100m from mine) and headed south rather than NW. Spent a while wandering around aimlessly hoping to make things fit before deciding to bail out (an easy option as all I had to do was to head W to the finish). Not my finest hour.

Pomingalarna - Course 2 (MB)
A far kinder day than yesterday but still hot going out at lunchtime, especially as there were still a few hills on the course. No blowouts, just some minor time losses on a number of controls trying to work out which earth bank was which. Looking forward to a rest day tomorrow.

Connorton - Men’s B
Very tentative through the first 5 as I found it difficult to read the map. Biggest problem was at 8 where I thought it was at the bottom of a slope rather than the top (I didn't pick I hadn't crossed the dry creek). By the time I realised I was too far to the north meaning a steep diagonal climb to the control. Very hot, not helped by going out just after 1pm. A good granite test.

Kildare Catholic College - Course 2 (Men's B)
Same course as Senior Girls. Best run of the week so far, maybe my fitness is coming back? No real issues, seemed to flow round the course without any issues (maybe doing the SOS with a similar 1:2000 scale has helped). One of the earlier starters and stayed top of the leader board until the end. Time would have placed me 12th in the senior girls!

Orienteering race (Australian relay champs) 41:15 [3] 4.36 km (9:27 / km) +203m 7:40 / km
shoes: Inov8 212 (black & red)

Split Rock - Course 5 (M55A, NSW 1 team)
This was more like it. Andy didn't have the best of first legs so no real pressure when I went out. Pretty steady all the way round, only loss was 10 where I was pushed to the right after passing the large boulder/cliff near the control and took a while to realise what I had done. Descent down from 10 was horrible. Pulled the team up one place to third. Tony W had a good last leg gaining an extra place to finish second to NZ and ahead of Australia!
