Uni of NSW - Hard 2A (M50)
Good courses on a new map with route choices galore. Not a bad run to come second but still 2.15 behind Mike Burton. A few wobbles; 10, 11 and 16, lost me some time but nothing like to closing the gap. As always I let the family down with my 2nd place with the other 3 winning fridge magnets for their 1st places! Not convinced the distance from my garmin is anywhere close to reality.

Sydney Uni Open Relay - leg 1
Some confusion about who my 'new' team member was meant I went off on the first leg rather than second having to play catch up, certainly got he adrenalin pumping. Reasonanbly clean run with only a few hesitations. Came into transition without really knowing who I'd be handing over to, it ended up being Jayne who got to run one of her courses in anger. We finished 8th but with Jayne's obvious knowledge were ineligible. Distance a guess as I didn't start the garmin due to the chaos at the start.

Good runs from the other three family members who were in NOL teams, especially Nea who was drafted in at the last minute aged only 9, must be a record.

A slickly run Big Foot event with good courses.

The Botany Bay Gift - Course 2A (M50)
Very sketchy through the first 6 'sand dune' controls not really getting to grips with the map. Kept on pulling up short when I saw a control that invariably wasn't mine, seemed to have trouble judging my running speed due to the sand. Once out of the dunes the course became a lot easier with faster running. Not a great result.

Lover's Jump East
With a deep valley just west of the start and only two crossing points, one to the north and the other to the south, the only real decision was whether to go clockwise or anti-clockwise, and then how many of the low pointers to get on the roads to the west. Decided on the clockwise option but foolishly did the out and back to 17. Once out of the valley did 25, 10, 4, 9, 7, 18 then missed 14 completely as I didn't see it, 20, 6, 12, 13 and then back into the valley for the northern loop back after getting 22. Finished 3.33 late so 40 point penalty to end up with 450. Shouldn't have bothered with 17 and definitely should have picked up 14, would still have been late but no so much. Legs didn't feel too bad but there were some steep hills to contend with.
