(injured) shoes: Asics GT 1000 #2

Checking out how runnable Billenbenbong map is now.

MTBO race 1:30:51 [3] 23.81 km (3:49 / km) +630m 3:22 / km
(injured)

NSW Long MTBO.

Never really felt I was going the right pace - sketchy track surface probably making me a bit nervy after Monday. Or maybe just that I haven't done an MTBO for a year...

Bit sore still.

soccer 21:00 [3] 2.8 km (7:30 / km)
(injured)

Forgot shin pads, so missed first few controls while I fashioned some from cardboard boxes. Down 1 by the time I started, and I didn't improve things, lost 3-1.

cycling 34:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:50 / km)

To/from Crows Nest, easy pace.

Ride to work, came off bike on Fullers Road. First rain after a lot of dry weather, so I guess road was greasy as all get out. Probably the highest speed crash I had. Fortunately was wearing rain gear, so no skin contact direct with the road, but I slid a fair way, lost some skin on my right side. 4WD behind me did well to avoid me and the bike.

OK but sore riding home - only superficial damage to bike and bum.

ultimate 2:00:00 [3] 12.9 km (9:18 / km)
weight:69kg shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#4 - blue)

Ultimate - Hat finals.
Played quarter 4th v 5th. Good friendly game, we went 3-0 up and then traded, so no pressure.

Semi - 4th v 1st. They had gone through unbeaten I think and were crazy fast runners. They beat us easily last time, but this game we gelled and stuck pretty much everything. Intense game.

Final - This was winnable, but we didn't. They had 3 good throwers, including Glenn who threw about 4 length of the field goals, which broke us. Lost by 2 I think. Good game though, our team was getting tired.

orienteering race 45:35 [4] 7.7 km (5:55 / km) +30m 5:48 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#4 - blue)

Goanna at the clay pan at Beacon Hill.
Love this area and I quite like the billy goat style race.

Stuck with Brooner out of the start and was overtaken by Ali and a fast guy (James ?). Greg caught me en-route to #3 which we skipped (looked like the others were having problems), then some changes of lead on the pan, ending with Brooner, Toby and me on the slow track to #7. I made a dumb route choice/control selection decision coming back over the big bare rock patch and probably hit the boxed section 3rd or 4th but had a clear run in here. Brooner messed up mentally in here, and maybe Toby did too as I got caught by Toby after penultimate control.

Last control was just wrong, so the race unravelled here, with Brooner jogging in to victory as nearly everyone else lost 2 or 3 minutes.
