orienteering race 20:58 [3] 3.0 km (6:59 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#1)

Sprint-O Newcastle Uni. Started slowly and never really got fast - very complex, struggling a bit reading map, and a few dumb mistakes too (memorising wrong control number...).

orienteering race 41:32 [3] **** 7.0 km (5:56 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#1)

Middle distance at Pelaw Main - lot of fun, got a little bit more flow than the morning. Caught Ian Jones a few before the spectator control, then we both lost contact with map (I followed him along "ride"). Took a very conservative relocation route and then ran like buggery to catch him, but never saw him again.

Bike commute - pretty itchy to get out for a run, but I'd already set myself to no runs until the weekend's triple header.

Every now and then (usually once a year), someone reminds me about the alternative route around Naremburn, even though I'm convinced its way longer. This year it was Stix.

Its way longer.

A spell of sunny weather seems to be bringing out the cyclists, although its chilly during commute time. Starting a new cold.

orienteering race 37:49 [4] 8.03 km (4:43 / km) +80m 4:29 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#1)

Metro League at UWS, Kingswood. Not much wood and a lot of running. A quick trip through the campus detail, where Andy Hill overtook me.
There was an OOB passage between two buildings that wasn't mapped and was only taped on the exit side (!!). The organisers had an official sitting 20s into it. On the startline there was a black and white picture - from Google Earth ? that I didn't manage to memorise and transpose into the map, along with nearly everyone else. Andy overtook me there and I had to dog it after him round most of the rest of the course, closing on him twice, but he pulled right away near the end.
