shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#2)
Run to start - then kept running to keep warm. Went with just short-sleeved O top, so it was nice that the sun came out a couple of times. Still very nervous before running - or still got traces of bug.

Day 3 - Liahovda. As promised, it was tougher both technically and physically.
#1 - opened up map and had no idea how to do leg (which was long but had a choice of two marsh routes or track & marsh) - haven't internalised speed over long marshes. Wasted more time dithering than the difference between them.
#2 - slight overshoot
#3 - first of a couple of 3-500m legs with 70-80m climb. Brutal and I lost a minute at the end when I guessed wrong about how far along ridge I'd hit. Saw a couple of other M45s at this point, but lost them after correcting.
#4-#9 - superb terrain, great views, in contact with map, really enjoyable, but tiring physically
#10,#11 drop off the hill, seem to be hitting controls OK, but not picking up any elephant tracks
#12 followed elephant track out of control instead of navigating. When I broke out of he grot and hit the enormous marsh with lake in sight, brain just froze. Probably spent 40s going "com eon brain"
Rest - straightforwardish, got lucky with #14. V tired but managed to hold off some other old guy on long finish sprint.
That was a lot of fun, and I guess being pantsed by Johan Ivarsson isn't the end of the world.
52/110 (assuming those marked as still out started...)
