Interesting hike today. Way out to Five-Points, out on the knob, back down to Lindenwald, through MU, into the woods, past Church, and back to the Fitton Center. Longest one to date.

Very odd walk today. It snowed last night. Roads were too slick so we walked the neighborhood. I wanted some mileage, so we hit every street, nook, and cranny. Sometimes twice. The weather conditions were dynamic. Soft powder turned to deadly, slippery hidden ice. I fell twice. First time, I tuned into a earth bound pretzel, Steve couldn't stop his forward momentum, tripping over my legs and torso. We both were entangled on the ground like a winterized version of twister.

Second time down was just as quick, with out warning, feet in the air, on my back, slammed my head on the ground. I think I pulled some neck muscles and have a mild concussion. Luckily Steve was spared.

Short but intensely cold walk today. I was to sore from the Orienteering weekend, and quite a shock going from running in shorts yesterday, to shivering for an hour today. The windchill was a killer. -20ยบ

Yesterday I was concerned about my back. I seemed to be none the worse for walking the O course. So I was thinking of trying to almost jog today. I was in second place but by quite a bit. Very small chance I could both come in first today and have the leader screw up enough to let him over take him.

Nonetheless I went for it. Kind of a fast walk, almost scooting over the ground. Never quite a run, but always aerobic. In addition, I refused to loose contact with the map. Almost zero mistakes today. Certainly no biggys.

I did well. First place today. Unfortunately, not enough to take 1st place overall.
