Note
(rest day)

Knee niggling just from walking around today. Not ideal.

Saturday May 5, 2012 #

Running 13:08 [2]

Down to Endcliffe, chatting to some randomer going down Brocco Bank as it was obvious he was going to the parkrun too.
Bumped into Rich at the start.

Running 19:01 [5]

Hallam Parkrun

Punter'd. Planned to hang just off the lead group but only one guy really took it on from the start; stayed with him for ~2/3rds of the first lap, dropping to 4th by the ponds as others caught us up. Held that for another half a lap or so and then lost another bunch of places as I was fading by then. 7th in the end.

Suppose it's not a totally unreasonable time considering the last month. Think I'll treat it like my first Trunce and just write it off as fine as long as it's my slowest for the rest of the year. A few intervals sessions and a bit more race practice and I should be fine.

Running 15:17 [2]

Back up the hill with Rich. Slight knee niggle towards the end.

Circuits 14:00 [1]

Usual.

Friday May 4, 2012 #

Running 17:34 [3]

Out round Lydgate, cemetery, BH park. Mostly easy with a couple of short sprints and strides thrown in.

Circuits 6:00 [1]

Note

Park run tomorrow, another easy/rest day Sunday and then (hopefully) back to something more closely resembling proper training next week.

Thursday May 3, 2012 #

Note
(rest day)

Tired and not in the mood. Cleared quite a lot of work though.

Wednesday May 2, 2012 #

Note

Will have another late seminar next Tuesday, so going to have to miss Burbage Skyline anyway. Shame, but nevermind. Probably run the route at some point soon just for comparison's sake.

Football 30:00 [1]

2nd knockout round after a bye in the 1st. We largely dominated the game but a combination of poor finishing and some excellent goalkeeping kept us to a 1-1 draw. Through on penalties though.

Running 10:56 [2]

Park, loop, back.

Decided against Tigger Todger tonight - of all the midweek racing I've missed/am going to miss, think this is probably the one I care about the least.

Circuits 15:00 [1]

Usual.

Tuesday May 1, 2012 #

Note
(rest day)

In Uni 'til nearly 8 and not in the mood after. Did manage to scrounge some free wine and biscuits though - every cloud...

Did a bit of ITB stretching, but not enough to be worth logging. Felt fine all day though.

Monday Apr 30, 2012 #

Running 11:39 [2]

Park, few drills, back.

Feeling good.

Circuits 20:00 [1]

Mostly stretching.

Running 10:02 [2]

Warm up round the field a few times and up the track with the various ShUOC womenfolk and Wil. Few drills and lots of speculation about the river.

Running 28:21 [5]

Trunce #3

Paced it well - set off quick but held it this time. Felt relatively comfortable throughout really which is pleasantly surprising - never really seemed I was holding much back either though.

River crossings were hilarious - wading speed only. Belly-flopped in on the second one as I misjudged the depth, disintegrating my race number in the process. Bit odd that I lost places on the river crossings and the downhills but made them back on the road and the final hill; usually the opposite happens.

Kicked on from the farmhouse on the final stretch - just enough to keep me at the head of a large group (including Wil, Karl and Graham). Probably top 10 or thereabouts? Very happy with that all things considered. Knee was generally ok too.

Edit: 8th. Yay.

Followed by Lucy and I inventing the synchronised ITB stretch...
