Control hanging for JIRCS Relay, Tankersley.
Big thanks to Tim for hanging a large chunk of the controls. Finished with half an hour to spare so could have waited until it was properly light before starting. Various other excursions into the woods to place tapes, replace SI boxes, deal with wasps, etc. Then two loops to collect controls. Thankfully I did get some help in the end. Particular kudos to the DVO members who helped out.

I think the event was a success despite the best efforts of the weather. I was almost jealous of Janet playing table tennis today ;-)
Just a couple of issues, only one of which I could have done anything about:
1. A few SI gremlins. It appears that some older dibbers intermittently don't work when the units are programmed for contactless punching. However there is no feedback if they don't register so no excuse for not using the manual back-up punch...
2. Turns out there was a wasps nest right next to one of my controls. I got a couple of stings myself when tagging this site a couple of months ago. I did mention it to the Controller but he found no sign of a wasps nest so we decided that I'd just been unlucky. Today around 20 juniors got stung (all on 1st leg I think). I went out to see if there was anything to be done about it and decided that moving the control around 10m would be of benefit. I think I got there just in time before the leading 3rd leg arrived so the control was in the same place for all of Leg 3. With the benefit of hindsight I should obviously have chosen another control site. Live and learn...

No running today. All the forest time was at walking pace. Achilles noticeable but not too bad.

Hanging first set of controls for JIRCS Relay. Just walking but Achilles still noticeably sore.
I hope I get some help collecting tomorrow.

Set out with the intention of doing 2 x 1 mile tempo but R Achilles got sore during first effort so eased off. Took shortcut home, jogging at first before walking the final mile. Ice after.

Trail running 1:14:00 [3] 8.0 mi (9:15 / mi)

Golf off due to heavy rain. Ran over to Meltham to see how wet the course was. Out via Harden Moss and back via Upperthong. Nice to run in the rain for a change.
