Orienteering race 55:22 [3] 5.0 mi (11:04 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 Mudclaw(2)

CompassSport Cup Final, Haywood Warren.
Blue Men's course, 6.5km 215m.
This was obviously going to be my longest run for a while and beyond what my Achilles is ready for. My strategy was to run steadily for 20-25 mins then walk a bit and repeat. Kept roughly to that with some adjustment to suit the couse. I therefore walked most of #5, #6 and #7 and then again #11 and #12. Navigation clean but maybe missed one or two optimum routes. Achilles grumbly at times but no worse at end than at start. Tomorrow morning key once again.
Finished in 11th on the course, 8 mins down on Dave Peel.

11 AM

Mountain Bike 2:30:00 [1] 21.0 mi (7:09 / mi)

Easy ride with Janet. South from Greenfield on the PBW to Hadfield. Over to the canal at Stalybridge. Towpath to Diggle (pub lunch) and back to Greenfield on the PBW.
One slightly dodgy route above Hadfield which was probably a footpath. Had to detour to avoid getting shot by pheasant hunters.
Achilles feeling good so should make the start line tomorrow :)

Trail running 32:00 [3] 3.5 mi (9:09 / mi)
shoes: Saucony ISO3

Brownhill Res, Underhill, Digley. New route to replace the normal Digley loop whilst work is done on Bilberry Dam.
Achilles slightly grumbly down through the fields from Holme but otherwise fine. L shoulder worse than ever.
Tomorrow is key with regard to the Achilles as usual.

8 AM

Note

Golf with Andy, Neil and Roy. 33 Stableford points (14/19).
Left shoulder bothering me still but Achilles much better than Tuesday.
12 PM

Road bike 1:10:00 [2] 19.0 mi (3:41 / mi)

Parked at Langsett and cycled to Sheffield via Strines.
2 PM

Note

Physio session with Kim.
She wasn't too worried about the latest flare-up or the swelling on my Achilles. More loosening and advice. Another test run tomorrow and, if no adverse reaction on Saturday, I can run Sunday. I won't be racing though and it will be run a bit, walk a bit, etc.
She also had a look at my L shoulder. Limited range of movement (which I knew about; since operation 15 years ago) but also very weak compared with R shoulder. I have some exercises to do and orders not to play golf for a few days.
3 PM

Road bike 1:15:00 [2] 19.0 mi (3:57 / mi)

Back to Langsett via A57 and Strines.
L shoulder, which felt much better after Kim had massaged it, now sore again.

Road running 9:00 [3] 1.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Saucony ISO3

Tester jog before tomorrow's Physio session. Better than feared. Achilles grumbly (particularly inside edge near ankle bone) but not too bad.

10 AM

Mountain Bike 1:55:00 [2] 24.0 mi (4:48 / mi)

Huddersfield, canal towpath to Marsden (with one detour), Wessenden, Goodbent Lodge.

Nasty fall near top of Wessenden. Front wheel went sideways and I went over the side of the track. Fell about 3m, luckily into dead bracken. Took a while to work out if I was OK.
2 PM

Note

Golf with Mick and Roy. 34 Stableford points (14/20).

Wasn't sure if my sore L shoulder would allow me to play but it was just about OK. Probably adversely affecting my swing though. R Achilles sore again. Ice afterwards.

Note
(rest day)

Giving pilates a miss this week. Too many niggles to make it worthwhile (L glut, L shoulder, R Achilles).
