Orienteering race 59:26 [4] 5.0 mi (11:53 / mi)
shoes: VJ Integrator (blue)

LOC Long distance, Lingmoor.
Short Brown 2 course. 6.9km 335m.
Calves feeling ok this morning so just went for it with no strapping. Clean but felt like hard work right from the start. Caught Jase and Neil at #9 so had a nice tow through the downhill section. Unable to speed up through the fields at the end but still somehow pipped Quentin on the run-in :-)
2nd on the course, a minute down on Graham Patten. Most importantly, both calves seem to be OK! Almost forgotten about earlier Achilles issues also.

Orienteering race 39:16 [4] 3.5 mi (11:13 / mi)
shoes: VJ Integrator (blue)

Lakes Weekend Middle Distance race, Graythwaite.
Brown Men course 4.7km 220m.
R calf strapped. OK mostly but some soreness later on. L calf also twinging towards the end. Also seemed to struggle with fitness. All this distracted from the orienteering. Shame as this would have been great fun if my body was cooperating.
Small misses in the light green at #3 and #4. Then it all went horribly wrong coming out of #6. Left control in wrong direction and nothing made sense for a long time. Eventually hit some black/yellow tapes on the stream /track but didn't know whether to turn left or right as these weren't marked on the map. A couple of minutes binned. More time went at #17 as I missed to the left. Not a good day at all. At least I was still running (in only a small amount of pain) at the end. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Finished 6th on the course over 5 mins down on Quentin. Somehow I was 1st M50 behind 2 M55 and 3 M45. Quentin's time out of reach today but 35 was definitely achievable.

Decided that my best chance of running at the weekend is rest until then, strap it and hope for the best.

Garage circuits. Reintroduced some plyometrics but R calf quickly very sore so concentrated on the left leg.
Worried now that R calf issue is more than just knotting. It doesn't seem to be going away. Ice afterwards. Not looking good for the weekend.

Standard MTB loop (C-W as 10/3). A bit grim. Calf better than Sunday but still not right.
