Orienteering race 48:57 [4] 6.0 mi (8:10 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 X-Talon 212 (2)

November Classic, Burley West.
Long Blue course, 8.3km, 155m.
The big showdown against Andy and Phil. All three of us suffering from various injury problems and only undy and I made the start line. Unfortunately for Andy he was off just 3 minutes ahead of me...
I set off at a good but steady place, worried how my calf was going to react. I was quite surprised to see Andy as I approached #5. I tailed him as far as #7 before we took slightly different routes to #8. I lead from there, pulling ahead on the long leg to #12. A small miss at #13 let Andy catch back up before I pulled ahead once more. Andy made some mistakes over the last few, finishing 3 mins after me giving me victory by 6 mins. Job done, but it would be good to race when neither of us is suffering from injury.
In the bigger picture I finished 2nd, 3 mins down on Clive. About par for the course at present. Most importantly, my calf survived although it did start to tighten slightly towards the end. Nice 1.5km jog back to the car park.

Cycling 2:50:00 [2] 71.0 km (2:24 / km)

Ditched the family for a solo bike ride. North from Port de Pollenca into the mountains as far the turn off to Sa Calobra. Nice flatish 13km warm up then the climb started. 500m in 8km but again quite easy gradient compared with Holme Moss. Great fun on the way back knocking out 1:20 km's for nearly 8km.

Walking 2:00:00 [1] 10.0 mi (12:00 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 X-Talon 212 (2)

Decided to log this as we weren't hanging around much.
Family walk up Bec de Ferrutx from Cases de Betlem. Very impressive looking peak from the coast but not too technical approaching from behind. Got into an unofficial 'race' with a German family on the ascent (we won;-)
Actual walking time about 4 hours. Distance 16.6km with 790m climb according to the guide book.
My calf was ok but could tell it's still not quite right so not sure how running on Sunday will go...

Note

Hired a car for a couple of days. Drove through the Serra deTramuntana to Soller. Detoured to Sa Calobra on way back and pottered about in the Torrent de Pareis gorge. Very impressive: the full walk/scramble now on the to do list. Also on the list is the climb out of Sa Calobra; apparently one of Wiggo's favourites for which he holds the record.

Cycling 2:30:00 [1] 30.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Another family day out on the bikes. Cap de Formentor inc all obvious detours and a swim/lunch stop. Most fantastic cycle route: beautiful zig zag roads through rocky mountains and pine forest. Climbs all less gradient than Holme Moss.
