Orienteering race 15:26 [4] 2.0 mi (7:43 / mi)
(injured)

British Sprints, York Uni. Heat 2B, 2.4km, 25m. 1st M45. Not sure how I compared with other classes running this heat. Foot a bit sore before I started but seemed to ease off if anything during the race.
Lost time at No 1, 2 and 3 but pretty smooth after that. Good area, well mapped and well planned courses. All in all very good event, but not sure about all the taped-off grass areas to the north and west of the buildings at the start of the course; forced me to run further than what looked possible on the map.

Orienteering race 14:28 [4] 2.0 mi (7:14 / mi)
(injured)

Final A2; 2.3km, 20m.
Never really got into this. Lost time at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 but made my major mess up coming out of no 10. Stupidly (lazily?) hadn't planned ahead and went down the steps from the control, got stuck down 2 dead ends, before eventually going back up the steps and doing what I should have done originally; round the building to the west. Surprised John Duckworth didn't catch me at this point, but he did eventually and I ended up 7th, 1.5 mins down on Martin W.
My foot was also getting more and more painful and is quite sore now. Now wish I'd not run the Final and am worried how it will feel in the morning.

Note
(rest day)

Calf massage with Kim. Foot was a bit more sore than usual this morning (similar to last Friday), but the massage has eased it somewhat. Thanks Kim!
Short walk to keep calves loose.

Trail running 45:00 [3] 5.5 mi (8:11 / mi)
(injured)

South from my parent's house to Sedgwick and back. Out on the riverbank, back on the old canal. Stiffness gone from calfs. Beautiful spring weather and I was well over-dressed.

Cycling 1:30:00 [2] 18.0 mi (5:00 / mi)
(injured)

Anti-clockwise loop around the north of Kendal, taking in Oxenholme, Meal Bank, Burneside, Crook and Underbarrow. Vicious climb over Scout Scar to finish.

Terrain running 1:03:00 [3] 6.0 mi (10:30 / mi)
(injured)

Map run around Marsden Moor again. Less emphasis on navigation than last week. Managed to get all the way to March Hill and back.
Foot OK on the soft stuff but calfs a bit stiff, presumably from doing 5mpk's on Sunday.

Visit to Podiatrist. He's pretty happy with how I'm progressing. He showed me how to self massage my prenoneal muscle group, of which, the peroneus brevis is where the problem is. Back in 6 weeks if not cleared by then.

Cycling 2:15:00 [2] 28.0 mi (4:49 / mi)
(injured)

Thought I may as well start in Huddersfield as I was there anyway. Out along the Calder Valley Greenway, then the Spen Valley Greenway (route 66) from Dewsbury to the outskirts of Bradford (through Cleckheaton). Not pretty, but different. Back the same way.
Foot a bit sore to start with, but eased off if anything.

Orienteering race 42:42 [4] 5.0 mi (8:32 / mi)
(injured)

YHOA Champs, Pillar Woods. Short Brown; 8.2km, 105m.
Good high speed workout. Navigation very simple, but very small mistakes could be decisive. Just pipped Martin W because I lost fewer seconds than he did.
Foot was still a little sore, but in a slightly different place to usual; still outside edge, but further forward towards the toes. Not too bad though.

Trail running 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
(injured)

Unusually I decided a decent warm down was required because I'd been running so quickly.
