Pujol-Cortcastel-Montcortes-Bretui-Peramea
12:36 AM; Pujol, ES

10.8 °C; Cloudy
Decided to do the circle route Lucia had suggested as a hike. The longest sustained climb wasn't as high as the one from N-260 to Pujol, yesterday but there were some very steep sections from the bottom of the valley between Pujol and Pujol and Cortcastel up to Montcortes. In Montcortes, a guy called back his dogs, looking out of the window, I asked him for the location of the trail to Bretui. He came out and showed me. I loved hearing the call of the cuckoos, reminded me a lot of the sounds of spring growing up in Belgium. From Peramea, I took the trail in reverse I had taken yesterday hiking with Lynn, this time without errors. A taxing but beautiful workout!

Drove up from Pujol, had to wait for about 30' for truck blocking road loading cattle being shipped to the high mountains for the summer. Fantastic views, though Tevas and shorts were inadequate dress due to the prevalence of gorse along the way. The wild flowers were beautiful and it was good to see Pujol from the top rather than the sleeping giant from the bottom.

Running La Pista
12:36 AM; Pujol, ES

11.8 °C; Partly cloudy
We drove up yesterday and Lucia told us when we arrived "You came up La Pista? But I gave you directions to come via Peramea!" I had not looked carefully at her directions and relied on the car's GPS. For whatever reason, the GPS directs to "La Pista," a perilously steep and rutted dirt road, climbing in many switchbacks to Pujol and ignores the blacktopped road coming in from Sort via Peramea. It looked like a great running challenge, though. After a leisurely downhill run, I came back up and completed the entire 300 m over 4 km without stopping, just slowing down a couple of times so as not to disturb the local free-range bovines.

Pujol to Peramea
4:40 AM; Pujol, ES

19.7 °C; Partly cloudy
Hiked from Pujol to Peramea via trails and back via the road. Not without some detours due to ambiguous trail markers and a pair of lost sunglasses. The vistas were gorgeous throughout and sunglasses were found. Last hurdle was getting back into the house, since I had given Lynn the keys after noticing my shades were missing. Eventually, I remembered my mobile and called her via Messenger from the frot. It was a gorgeous morning and early afternoon, after we were safely in, it started raining, right on schedule per the local forecast.

Third and last session with yogi Barbara. Was pretty much a private session, I was the only participant. Felt good to stretch those overworked legs and my lower back. Downward dog and other shoulder intensive poses are still a little hard with my right shoulder.

Quick hike to complete one of my bucket list items, a dip in the sea. Could not spend 10 days in the area and not get past wading. Water temp was great but the conditions were not clear below the waves. Snorkeling was kind of a dud but I had fun splashing around. Made sure to hike along the rim of the cliffs on the way back, enjoying the vistas.

Sitges-Vilanova-Cova Negra
12:49 AM; Sitges, ES

Second ride with the Trek X Caliber 7. Not as epic as yesterday but still a good ride. Again, followed mostly a route posted on Wikiloc. Got to be careful with changes for rides not commented on for a few years. In one location a farmer had expanded his vineyard and the freshly tilled soil was barely walkable, certainly not ridable. In another location it looked like a farmer was getting ready to put up a chain link fence that would go across the track. But definitely an enjoyable ride, with many sights and even a few urban stretches. At its destination, the 'Black Cave,' I pretended to be caving. I probably would have crawled in farther, had it not been for time constraints.

Followed ocm's map and route description on Wikiloc. Since I only occasionally checked the map on my mobile, I lost the trail a few times. I was able to compensate the biggest error I made by improvising a delightful detour on local trails that brought me back on the prescribed route. There was a lot of climbing involved, totaling to well over 1000 m of climbing over 50 km. All this on a double espresso with three sugar cubes and a quarter liter of water. I kept waiting for the bonk but it never came. Highly recommended if you are ever in the Sitges area!

Escorting Prof. Blewett from conference venue back to the hotel, after she snuck me in to let me partake of conference debauchery. I even let her ride the bike on the way back. I rode through town to avoid a stairway by the church, but other than that, I trotted along. Beautiful evening, the wind is finally slowing down a bit.

Different poses more teaching, just two students today. Had a chance to chat with the yogi, she is Mexican, married to a frenchman. The other student, who attended also yesterday's class is a native from Liege, married to a Swiss. Small world.
