ahr:146 max:160 shoes: Pursuit T6004 roller skis

Mixed group on our favorite forestry road, six bikes and one roller skier. One hour out and then back. Accellerated on way back, so I had some time for a three minute cooldown.
There was some storm damage along FR 236, but fairly limited. Liz and Craig pushed out the farthest, Joel turned around early, and Lynn, Peggy and Mary stopped in the open area to pick blueberries. Good outing!
5 PM

Swimming Open Water 4:19 [1] 0.2 km (21:35 / km)

More cooling off than a serious swim but I swam a couple 100 m. Mellie came out to me to check if I wasn't drowning. Water was super warm, thanks to the NE wind trapping surface water in the bay.

Still feeling tired and worn, so kept tempo down. A lovely ride, cool, earlier, many runners out. 21 women to 12 men this morning.

Hurrying home to get on the road to Washburn. A lovely Friday afternoon, no runners out, probably too much between lunch and end of work day.

After the cold front. Quite a difference, temps below 20 °C, air not humid but the tall buildings downtown Minneapolis shrouded in clouds, skyscrapers. A decent wind from the north swirled occasionally to slow me down. Kept tempo down, need to recover from intensity and long distances earlier this week. Very pleasant ride. 13 females to 12 male runners this AM.

Feeling pretty shot from a big week of biking and roller skiing. Don't think I'll go for the trail run tonight.

Another late start due to vet visit. hopefully the last one. Interesting to see the amount of traffic I am avoiding by leaving home around 6:15 instead of 8:00. More cycles in the DT area but fewer runners. 4 males to 3 females this AM. Weather is steamy, 25 °C as I'm leaving. A few raindrops along the way. Curious about how much rain we'll get today.

21.1 °C; Heavy rain
Observing the weather during the afternoon I was convinced I'd have to take the rail home. When I walked to TPC, it had stopped raining and I started my ride home. Before I even reached CLT, I was hit by a shower, which was with me until the river and then subised to a sprinkle. Wet but nice ride home, spritzing through lukewarm puddles made it actually fun. While I was riding the wind shifted from W to N.

Not a good week to build in my coffee errand into the daily ride to work. So I went to pick it up when they open the shop and ride back home. A lovely morning for it.

Done with morning meetings, heading home to work the rest of the afternoon from there. Some event going on at the DT side of Stone Arch Bridge, long line in front of what I think is a food truck. Quite a few runners out, The morning advantage 9:5 for the women turned into a 23:20 for the guys. The campus connector is being oiled and full of lose grit. Being cautious, especially at the Como Ave end. SE wind provided some assistant, except on Snelling.

Sisu MYR Pt. 2 w/ HRM 4 x 4:00 Double Poling L4
7:10 PM; Battle Creek West, St. Paul

28.4 °C; Clear
Turned HRM on and restarted Garmin. In business.
2nd through 5th Interval and cooldown.
After the 4th interval I checked in with coach Andrew, wondering whether it would be four or five intervals. He asked "How are you feeling?" I replied "Not so good" to which he said "You look like you've got five in you." My kind of coach, right way to motivate. But this was a hard workout.

Roller Skiing Skate 37:19 intensity: (2:00 @1) + (12:00 @2) + (17:00 @3) + (3:00 @4) + (3:19 @5) 8.19 km (4:33 / km) +87m 4:20 / km

Sisu MYR Pt. 1 w/ HRM 1 x 4:00 Double Poling L4
6:30 PM; Battle Creek West, St. Paul

29.4 °C; Clear
Did not read the training plan carefully and missed taking my classic skis. Did a skate warm-up with Jamie and then decided to do double poling for the 5 x 4:00 L4 intervals, because they are part of the classic skiing group. After my first interval I noticed that I hadn't turned my HRM on. so I restarted the watch on the way down.

Spending the day at Target North Campus, having the meetings we were supposed to have last week at West Campus. Opportunity to ride the Mississippi River Trail to Brooklyn Park on this very lovely morning. The heat has broken somewhat, first time under 20 °C in quite a while. Last time I rode up here, there was frost on the trail. Very light use by both cyclists and pedestrians. Counted 11 female and 10 male runners over the entire 36 km stretch. Got into the weeds a little near the north end of my rout when I tried to connect with a westbound trail. I ended up back on 97th St. after some erring through a subdivision. On reviewing my bumbling on the map, I see that I missed the Rush Creek Regional trail by less than 100 m on leaving the MRT. Planning to make up for this on the way home after work!

My attempt to reach the Rush Creek Regional Trail did not pan out. I left work too rushed and forgot to check the map one more time. Took promptly a wrong turn (going E instead of W (counterintuitive) on 101st Ave and then S on Zane, I should have noticed that) and found myself back on 97th St. But it was a nice ride nevertheless. The river area near downtown was very busy but not congested (except for the cars) Counted 11 female and 15 male runners.
