Quickly getting last walk in before sitting in the plane all day. Opted not to run because I did not want to end up with a buncg of stinky wet stuff in my luggage. Very quiet London between 6 and 7 on a Saturday morning. Probably the last time in the next 2-3 month that I'm experiencing cold hands from just walking or running outside. will need to get used to the steamy Midwest summer after these last two very moderate weeks in the UK and Belgium.

Seems like a loop of Lincoln's Inn Fields is very close to 400 m, makes me wonder whether this was a track in the past.

Running 29:33 intensity: (34 @1) + (1:13 @2) + (9:03 @3) + (5:50 @4) + (12:53 @5) 5.61 km (5:16 / km) +24m 5:09 / km

Nice ~5 km, fartlek format, speeding up every time a faster runner passed me. Not much in terms of hills near the Thames, except for stairways near the bridges.
I calibrated the altimeter before the run, the F3 is supposed to count floors like an activity tracker. It didn't but now it does. I also enabled GLONASS, reception for the Russian GPS network and indeed, it picks up satellites much faster now. Thus far, the F3 is turning out to be the best Garmin watch I've owned.

Walked from Lincoln's Inn Field to Churchill War Room museum by circuitous route. Toured the exhibits for a couple of hours, very good, but simply too much information to digest. Then to Parliament and Westminster Bridge, pat Downing Street. When I first was in London in 1979, you could still walk through Downing St., right past #10. Now, the entire road is secured by an iron gate and armed guards. The area around Big Ben was simply too congested with tourists, so we did not linger. Yesterday at 7:00 AM, it had been much better. Returning to Piccadilly to pick up some gifts and keepsakes, then back to hotel. Somehow, these long, slow strolls are harder on my legs and back than a run over twice the distance.

Beautiful morning for a run after a number of rainy days in Belgium and the UK. The masses were on their way to work, on foot, by bike and public transport. Both bridges' sidewalks were so busy that I had to hop into the street when traffic allowed. The banks of the Thames were less crowded.
10 AM

Hiking 1:12:36 [1] 5.1 km (14:14 / km) +16m 14:01 / km

Picking up our tickets for show tonight at Windhams Theater, then to Royal Opera, Covent Garden Market and to the Tate Museum, along the river. Lucky with weather, it was supposed to rain around midday.
2 PM

Hiking 38:55 [1] 3.1 km (12:33 / km) +29m 12:00 / km
shoes: Hoka One One Tor Summit Low

Headed home back to hotel the Tate. Tired legs after lots of walking inside the museum as well. Just a short rest, then off, to high tea at the Ritz and People, Places and Things at Windhams Theatre. For that, we took the tube to the Ritz and walked to the Windhams and back to hotel after the show, which was super good.

Nice run down memory lane, my daily way to school, past my parent's house and through many spots from my childhood.

Lynn's preparing for her conference presentation so I explored the vicinity on my own, scouting out some running opportunities and places to visit, like the Tate. It rained intermittently, too warm to wear a rain jacket. Very enjoyable morning walk. Heading for Belgium this afternoon.
