Note

Test the Lungs XC ski race at Green Acres cancelled. :(

It's the right decision, though.

Took Mellie's harness but forgot my own. Oh well, did some regular skate skiing, paying close attention to weight transfer. Still trouble with my balance. Fast snow, finally firm, with a few icy spots. Good pace, approaching speed when Mellie is really into it. I think my training with Sisu is finally starting to pay off!

Two laps on soft, wet snow in above-freezing temps. Slow going for both dog and owner. Still nice to be skiing, though!

On real snow! How awesome is that???
Warm-up ski
5 x 4' intervals
1 x short V1
Cool-down ski
Freezing left index finger until the workout was almost over.
Coach Ben had a heart-to-heart talk with some snow boarders who were messing up one of the hills on the xc course.

First time back in about a year and last time wasn't exactly pleasurable. Had driven by around 10:30 to check on grooming and then egain at 12:45. Lo and behold, they had just started rolling it. Went home, changed into ski gear, grabbed the dog and off we went. Soft conditions, it needs another couple rounds of rolling. No classic track set. Mellie was tiring out in the soft snow, so no more than two laps today. Great workout and super to be skiing again on nature's own snow ! Highland HS skiers were starting their workout as I was leaving. I'm sure it will be quite churned up when they are done.
