Running race 24:16 [5] 5.06 km (4:48 / km) +95m 4:23 / km
ahr:176 max:181 shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaws

Drizzly morning for the race and mild temps, excellent conditions! I was able to make it through the field of little ones without a stumble. A group of young fast runners dropped me quickly and Jake passed me around the 1 km marker. I soon noticed that I hadn't purged as well as I could have this morning, must have been that late Mexican dinner at Pepito's on Chicago Ave yesterday evening. Sorry guys, consequently I had to leave in a hurry after the event, would have loved to socialize a little after ...
Even though I felt like I was dying, I finished well, welcomed by Jake. And, I was able to hold off John K after he beat me last year. Turns out I had a new PB on the route, 15"/km faster over last year. All that track and hill work with Kitty, Erika, Nancy and Jake paid off, not to forget the Sisu workouts. Very happy with Inov8 Mudclaw 330s for this event, no issues with heel blisters. Must be the constant stop and go in orienteering that causes these.

Running 9:29 [3] 1.76 km (5:23 / km) +17m 5:08 / km
ahr:157 max:168 shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaws

Quick warm-up with Jake. Fun to see lots of Sisu people, especially Kitty and Heather plus families, John, Jane, Scott and Erika from the Wednsday morning track workouts with her family.

Finally had a chance to ask some workers about the construction going on at SE corner of Snelling Ave and Energy Park Drive. Two guys were scrutinizing some insulated pipes. They told me that they are putting in a steam pipeline for some of the appartment buidlings in the area.

Joined up with Kitty, Heather and Margie for some over-distance training around Afton. We missed you, John, hope your stomach is feeling better!
Going up 50th Street S, I heard some heavy breathing approaching from behind. I knew it wasn't one of my companions since the sound of the poling sequence had a classic ring. A young woman passed, Jessie Diggins of the Junior National Team doing hill repetitions. I asked her how many, she said six.
