New route for a little longer distance, to Reservoir Woods. Nice, running on a cm of soft fresh snow, with few slippery spots. Trying to keep my HR down, tough for me run slow enough to keep it around 135 bpm, especially with 35 kg of dog on the leash that wants to keep moving fast. Checked out Como Golf Course skiing, nothing. Some hardy souls must have tried it in the sloppy snow earlier this week, the ruts they created were frozen in the crusty snow. When we ran past the wolf pen, one of them followed us along the fence, glancing hungryly at Mellie.

Slushy snow with hidden puddles. What fun to run through! Saw some boys who were up to mischief with snow, like rolling snow chunks into Lexington Ave. One picked up a snow ball, presumably to throw at us, but Mellie thought it was a ball and tried to grab it from him, en passant.

Easy pace to soothe my quads still a little sore from Sunday's climbs at Nerstrand Big Woods. Stayed on the bike trails, didn't feel like messing with crusty snow. A few snowflakes in the air, precursors of the storm we are supposed to get?
