Beautiful day out in spite of [a few] numerous errors.
At the start, Ian asked if anyone had ever done one. I said I had, about 30 years ago. However, compass was allowed and it had water. ("Course oro-hydro" in French)
Recreated this map in Gimp by looking at my very chewed up contour-only map, the circles are probably not quite centred on the CPs. Linear Ice was smart to use a map case.
#5: did not consider lake and wetland being on same level and overshot CP. By a lot. Even though Todd pointed it out before the run: "no flags on the far side of the lake" I helped the guys look for them until Julia said "what are you guys looking for?"
#7 and #8 Went due west, would have probably corrected not finding flag. My looking for #8 was skewed accordingly
#16 was a major error. Was heading straight for it when I veered E after crossing bottom of valley and confidently punched #4 as #16. Embarrassing. Of course I couldn't find #17. I figured it out with help of the sweeper who was picking up flag #3.
#18 I almost ran right through the quarry.
