Orienteering 50:00 [1] 3.5 km (14:17 / km)
QOC training day at Turkey Run Ridge - late in the morning, while David Onkst took the class around a compass and pace course, I went out and hung 9 controls along the route of a just under 4km line-O on a trails-removed map. Wanting to be able to warn participants if there were any unpleasant unmapped surprises along the line, I followed the line pretty faithfully except in two short sections where it had been suggested I alter my original course design to reduce the number of stream crossings and/or take people across a stream at a more easily crossable point.
Orienteering 30:00 [1]
Map walk with the faster half, more or less, of the class around a course, with no controls hung, designed by Ted to make us think about and discuss as close to the full range of orienteering skills and techniques and how and when to apply them as he could manage in less than 2 km.
Form exercises 24:00 [4]
Some silly walks while members of my map walk group did the line-O.
