Orienteering race 39:28 [4] 5.2 km (7:35 / km) +280m 5:59 / km

Flying Pig Middle Blue - mostly very fast woods and steep climbs, although they didn't seem so steep compared to Yellowwood. Of course, in a middle it was harder to feel good about walking up hills when they got steep enough that that was the most efficient thing to do. Back to a fairly satisfying second,just ahead of Mattias and not quite a minute back of Eric. AP splits analysis says I was quite clean but that's partly due to inadequate sensitivity - I lost 20 seconds or more to the fastest on five legs out of 17. Course wasn't particularly technically difficult but was very physical so as in the sprint, I'm pleased to have managed to keep my effort level high throughout without blowing up anywhere. It'll be harder to make that happen in more technical races to come this spring.

Orienteering race 1:57:09 [3] 12.9 km (9:05 / km) +820m 6:53 / km

Flying Pig Long Blue - third and I'm slightly surprised to see the split analysis thinks I had just enough mistake time that a clean run would have had me second. Had guessed I didn't have quite enough error time to account for all of the gap to Ali but I only identified as errors the two larger ones of the four AP identifies. So, could have been better technically but that's minor compared to the gap to Eric's time - improvements in physical conditioning will be required if I want respectable results in long distance races with deeper fields later this season.

Orienteering race 18:04 [5] 3.27 km (5:32 / km)

Flying Pig Sprint Blue - a satisfactory result, 2nd to Eric by 10 seconds in a race for which I'd like to take back one route choice in particular plus maybe one or two others but in which I was doing a pretty good job of running as hard as I could without getting stupid and making a big mistake.
