QOC Mason Neck Blue - really enjoyed the subtle/vague contour and fairly fast running south of the park road (reminescent of Florida but with lower visibility and more rootstocks), not that north of the park road was chopped liver either but bouncing around the reentrants fringing the water on the north edge of the map was more like typical QOC orienteering. Exposed some slightly sloppy compass technique, though the trouble in some cases was having an attack area rather than an attack point due to the difficulty of making out one's precise rather than approximate location from the contours. Did a parallel error on the long leg to 9 from which I was fortunate to recover without bailing out to the bike path by the park road. Kudos to Tom Strat for the mapping - even in winter with high visibility in the woods, it has to have taken a long time to cover the terrain thoroughly enough to locate all the rootstocks, pits and depressions.
