Orienteering race 39:28 [4] 5.6 km (7:03 / km) +195m 6:00 / km

Flying Pig Middle #2 - least satisfactory race of the weekend, though part of the gap to my peers is likely down to an overly conservative route choice to avoid light green on the long leg to 4 - pending further study of splits, I don't think I made any very large errors executing my intended routes. Also, my right hip flexor started giving me grief while playing disc golf on Saturday afternoon. It improved overnight and didn't seem like it was limiting me much at all but that might explain a bit of the gap too. Actually, it might be most accurate to blame the disc golf purely because I did it instead of eating and resting. Perhaps a few more weeks of harder training will have me in shape to race well three days in a row without taking every possible recovery-promoting measure but I shouldn't count on it at my age.

In any case, a satisfactory start to the spring A meet season overall and a reasonably strong indication that the physical prerequisites for a good season are in place.

Orienteering race 1:35:25 [4] 12.0 km (7:57 / km) +380m 6:52 / km

Flying Pig Long - less happy with this race. Had a couple of silly but small errors of execution and route choice could have been somewhat better given perfect knowledge of how well the vegetation mapping represented runnability. Also, left hamstring had stiffened up after Friday's race and felt fragile for a significant part of this race, apparently not completely over previous problems. At least it held together and even felt better afterwards compared to before.

Flying Pig Middle #1 - have to be happy with this race.

To work. Pollen suddenly started to get to me this morning on waking. Hope the antihistamine I found when I rooted around in the medicine cabinet worked. Home by way of the Georgia Ave Safeway.
